Can the duration of vibrate be changed?

Is there some registry tweak or other method (short of changing the ROM) to change the duration of the vibrate?

Check this thread out, there is a good solution which is easy to do. One of the options:

vN = vibrate for N seconds

Thanks. I will look into this. Since reflashing my ROM for GPS my vibrate for incoming mail has been extremely long (> 8 seconds). I'll post my results after experementing.
