Voice Command with a Sprint Mogul
 

Good morning everyone, I am new to PPCGeeks. I have spent a lot of time reading the threads over the past two weeks.

I am a newbie and have never done anything to my mogul. I just issued this phone to all of my outside sales guys (13 of them) and have switched them over from various other carriers (why sprint? I could not pass up the deal they gave me).

anyways, some of the guys who were on verizon used to have voice command dialling on their other phones. I have several questions:

1. MSVC does not come with the mogul. do I have to buy this from Microsoft or is there another way that I am supposed to get this?

2. I have seen all the threads concerning MSVC not working with Sprint and the Mogul. Are these issues still present with the latest ROM that sprint phones ship with (the phones were just purchased in the last 2 weeks)

Again, it seems like this is a great community...even though a bunch of it might be above my head. I look forward to learning more and more.

MSVC works fine with a couple of registry edits that can be found with a search, as well as tips and tricks on usage...

Is it true that Microsoft discontinued the Voice Command product earlier this year? If this is true, is there a similar program that I should be looking to get for all of my Moguls? voice speed dial sucks and my employees will kill me if I don't give them this functionality.

Not sure if they discontinued it......but it works fine there are a few different builds out for it....there is a whole discussion and a total tutorial on XDA forums....for me this is one those must have apps....I have used it on all roms....there is a work around with regedits when it has not functioned properly....do some searching and reading you will find everything you need...:mrgreen:

There is also Dutty's voice commander. Not sure how they compare, but it is better than the factory voice dial.

to get it working on wm6 or 6.1 on any mogul rom properly (or at all on the new sprint rom) you need build 19209 which is not available through retail channels. There are rips of it to be found on the internet from various devices that it came stock on, but sites that sell MSVC do not sell this build.

I have found that the most stable is 17913....I have run this on all roms with a simple reg tweak some roms do not even need the reg tweak.... i did use 19209 on one of NO2Chem's builds but it was a major work around to get it working....

I've never had a problem with 19209 - never had to do any regedits either, and also 17913 on some of the newer roms will cause the rom to lock up when you go into the settings menu IIRC - several of the older builds will... 19209 on the other hand is fully working for me on every rom I have tried it on, no regedits or anything required for full working MSVC including BT confirmations and notifications too....

version 1.6.19581 works fine too on WM6.1 (stock 3.56 ROM)...
