ROM slowly decreasing
Everytime I would restart my Mogul, I would get about 71% of my Application ROM used up. All I have running is the regular Today screen and PDAnet. Anybody know what's going on?
And right now I am running at 81% with PDAnet running, and occasional texting. |
Re: ROM slowly decreasing
ActiveSync takes up about 200kb and when you first use the phone after boot-up (consisting of simply pressing the talk button even if you don't make a phone call, completing a call where the call status screen appears, and the call history) that takes up 1mb of RAM. When using the SDcard for anything, that also takes up RAM as all the SD drivers load up. As all the system and device drivers load, that also slowly eats RAM, along with opening certain programs. And when all the graphics on your Today screen cache, that's also a culprit. By running SKtools Free-Up RAM, that helps me alot. And if you really have to, just soft reset. =p

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
Hmm.. I never had this problem before. Usually when I soft-reset my Mogul I get about 51% of my ROM used up. This is a huge difference. But I guess I'll check out that application! Thanks.

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
use a taskmanager such as this one http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm and see what is using up your memory. is gwes.exe > 3000kb? maybe try reducing the glyphcache in your registry to around 2048.

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
I installed it, seems that device.exe is the big user. gwes.exe is1498kb, device.exe is 2770kb, and filesys.exe is 1668kb.

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
that is lower than my current readings and I'm at 64% usage.

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
That's lower than mine and I'm at 60% usage. My phone has been on since yesterday morning without a soft-reset so I know after a while, the processes start to eat more memory.

Re: ROM slowly decreasing
So does anybody know why my readings are unusually higher than normal?
