Using mogul as internet to connect with xbox live

Can you use the phone as modem to hook up to the xbox 360 live, I tried earlier with the usb hook ups ( where the controllers go) it lit up like it was charging but would not connect. It kept saying check usb connection

that would be sweet if possible. but with such a low mbs rate you would lag like no other.

I guess its possible if you connect your PC and use Internet sharing on XP then use the Ethernet adapter on the PC to connect to the XBOX. You might need a cross over cable. Use the Mogul as the Internet Connection via USB and the Ethernet on the PC as the ICS connection to the XBOX. Connecting the Mogul directly to the XBOX wouldnt work as far as I know. I could be wrong. You can also connect a Wireless G Access Point to the Ethernet on the PC and then it will be a wireless connection. Of course all this needs configuring! But its definitely do-able!

I've used my Mogul for XBL multiple times while travelling. Played COD4, Halo 3, Test Drive Unlimited, all multiplayer online and never had a problem. At first I connected it to the laptop and used ICS, then I got ahold of WiFiRouter and now just connect to the Mogul wirelessly and things are great.

So, you connect wirelessly through your computer or an xbox wireless adapter?

I believe he is saying that he uses the application wmwifirouter on the mogul which allows you to use your internet connection on the phone wirelessly connecting to XBL. I've done the same. Just make sure you have a good connection. Check out www.wmwifirouter.com. Dont forget you have to have a wireless adapter for your xbox to do this.

The fluxuation with connectivity via a wireless device such as a Mogul would explain a lot of the time on COD4 when the host times out and kills a good match of HC: S&D...

it's not so much the low bandwidth that creates a problem here (rev a should give sufficient upload speeds), but you will have almost certainly very unacceptable ping times due to the high latency of connecting this way.... I would not recommend it. Also the connection is not very reliable so you will probably have a decent amount of packet loss which will cause the connection to drop.

Re: Using mogul as internet to connect with xbox live

i've never had a lag or server drop problem while playing online. Maybe I just have gotten lucky that I generally stay in major cities for work, and they have Rev. A

Either way, try it out and see how it works for you.

I use my phone for 360 all the time and i have never lag. Rev A is awesome! For some reason though the same is not so true with my PSP. The PSP lags bad when im online.

Re: Using mogul as internet to connect with xbox live

believe it or not, game consoles use very little bandwidth, it is designed using a 64k spec as the majority of the people with hi speed connections do not very good bandwitdh to begin with as well as being connected to a network with others using the connection. Consoles also prioritize allocation of bandwidth and if it wasn't capped then others could not be on line at the same time as a gamer. I believe the mogul would ba a good access point as long as the reception is good.

Re: Using mogul as internet to connect with xbox live

I use my Sprint Mogul For XBL on my 360.. My setup is as follows..

Mogul USB to Laptop Via Internet Sharing app on phone Connects to Sprint not phone as a modem (used the disable NAI regedit and changed the big 3 from 1 to 0)

In Vista on my laptop I have the connection from the mogul (windows mobile based RDNIS device shared with my lan connection..

From there it goes into my routers WAN port so no need for crossover cable.

The router handles all the local computers/devices DHCP..

One of my Ethernet ports on the router is connected to the xbox 360..

Whenever I have my mogul hooked up to laptop I can instantly turn on the 360 and get on live and have no problems with lag on live games...

I have hosted and played games on GTA IV with as many as 12 players so far.

This method works best for me. I think its due to taking the Wireless step out reduces any overhead or additional lag in the connection. i get around 100ms pings while tethered this way on speedtest.net and I am in an EVDO connection area.

Hope this setup will help some of the people who need to get thier XBL fix in a pinch when they might not have any other means of getting online.
