Any idea why my Mogul has massive slowdown when opening apps?

Ok this started the other day, I have not installed anything in at least a month, the only thing I have done since it started acting up is turn off the phone and remove the micro SD card and put it back in.

Ok here is where the problem lies. I will get a text message and then I will click on the inbox or the message to go to my text messaging and like a minute or so later the message will finally come up, then if I hit reply it will be another long wait for the message to come up, then when I start typing no text will show up, after I am done typing, the text will very slowly start showing up on screen, then once again there is a wait for the message to send too.
I have had the same waiting programs with other programs, Even the file explorer, I will click to open them and will be a lot longer than it should take to open. I received a phone call yesterday and there was even a delay in the phone answering after I clicked the answer button on the screen.

Now when the slowdown stuff happens I usually soft reset and it will be fixed for a short while then will go back to the same things. If I am in my inbox while soft resetting, messages that I have just received and opened are missing when the phone boots back up.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything short of a hard reset and re installing everything that I can do? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Had 220 messages in there, I am deleting my sent messages too, not sure if that matters too, but there are like 850 in the sent messages. I will try this, thanks.

Are you using any sort of X button manager?

If not, use this one: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com...d_Programs/HTC

Enable it via Start -> Settings -> System -> X-Button

Also make sure you delete all of them within 'Deleted Items' by highlighting them all and pressing delete....

No problem.

Anyway... I also suggest flashing a custom ROM if you are comfortable in doing so.

I have not tried a custom ROM yet, what is the difference between a custom and like the standard one?

I'm always paranoid that someone's going to pick up my phone and read my texts... so I delete them as they're read. Seems to keep things pretty snappy!

are you using push e-mail, or really short check times? my phone always slows down while its pulling e-mails from the server.

No I am not using email, the main thing I notice it on is text messages, but usually it loads fairly fast, just in the last couple days it just bogs way down and its like the same kind of slow when a PC is bogged down with too much going on and stuff just takes way longer to load because it is processing too much, but there are no other programs running on my phone. I have checked the task manager and I have run the Oxios close apps program as well.

I just don't get what could have happened to make it do this all of a sudden, like I said I have not installed anything, the only things I have done is taken out my SD card and put it back in while the phone was off. I also changed out some programs on my quick launch deal. It has been like a month or more since I think I have even synced my phone with the computer.

Also I have not dropped the phone or anything. I got an email that my enAlarm PPC needed updated the other day, but surely that wouldn't cause this problem, as I did not download the new version yet.

Mine did the exact same thing. I'm running dizzle 2.0. The only thing I could do that helped was to do a "clear storage" and reinstall. I tried various things and would always have the same result-- a reboot seems to help for a little while and then shortly after the massive slowdown occurs. memory utilization was around 66% so that wasn't a problem.

I also tried operating without the SD and it still occured. I finally gave up and tried a clear storage and reinstalled all my apps and that did the trick. At first I thought it was a text message database issue, in fact, it may still be... I did try deleting all my txt msgs, but if the actual database was corrupt, I could see it being impossible to clear without a clear storage. weird part is the task manager never showed high cpu utilization for any processes.

By the way, in my situation I should also note that both applications would load slowly, AND loaded apps would run very slowly.

Not that it matters for me now, but does anybody know how to physically zero out the txt message database?

When this happens, how much memory is available?

That is sounds exactly like what is happening, I was afraid that is what it was gonna come down to, oh well.

my memory usuage is 59% right now.
