Synchs with one cable... not another
 

So this post is mostly to add to the "collective intelligence" here and partly to ask for troubleshooting.

I've had my 6800 for a week now and have been having trouble with the sync on it. Today I noticed that I couldn't synch with one cable but could with the one that came with my phone.

I did all of the troubleshooting things you're supposed to do (reboot the PC, soft reset the phone,etc.) and it just wouldn't sync over the one cable. It would charge though.

Bad cable you say? Nope, I unplugged the phone and plugged in a small multi-cardreader and transferred 25MB of images over the one that wasn't allowing sync.

Ever heard of this? I figured a cable was a cable as long as it had the right connectors on each end.

bad cable or a cable that only pushes through charging, or has pin 4 grounded - I have used many cables you don't have to use the one that came with it but that one just might not work. there are multiple cables that look the same but may be different.
