How safe are these adapters in general? I've read threads where the mini-USB port has been damaged by them...is that just the cheapo ones, or what?

I'm tempted by this on eBay...ridiculously low price, but the possible quality worries me.

I'm trying to figure out why the ROM version would make any difference? It's a hardware device, the software shouldn't affect it at all..

According to Yankees368, you just need to do the following to make it work. I just ordered one last night... I'll report my findings when I get it...

"To make it work, you must first start the audio/video stream, then plug in the adapter, and then finally plug in the headset to the adapter. This always seems to work."

So I got it in the mail yesterday. Love it.. except for one thing. Anytime I get an email, text, etc... I need to take off the piece from the phone and reinstall it. Also, when I switch stations on SiriusWM5, it makes me take it off and put it back on. It seems to not be a problem with Sling though. I also like how it now becomes a "speakerphone" through my car speakers.

Anyone want to try to fix it with a reg edit?
