Vista Sync Center 6.1 Random Sync Problems
 

I am running Windows Vista SR1 and Sync Center 6.1 on my laptop. I am also running NO2Chem 5067 on my Verizon xv6800. I have tried various versions of the DCD and No2Chem kitchens. I have unchecked "Enable advanced network functionality" in USB to PC connections and I have also called Verizon and had my phone replaced but still get the same problem.

When I connect the phone to the laptop, sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. I can hear the tone when I connect it but Sync Center never registers the phone is connected. Or when Sync Center does recognize it, it may stay connected for 1 minute, or an hour and then randomly disconnect.

I have tried replacing the sync cable, plugging into every port on my laptop and both phones (both new) from Verizon are doing the same thing. The problem appears to be related to the new upgraded Roms.

I also run MyMobiler and PDANet. Sometimes Sync Center wont see the phone but MyMobiler will, other times neither will see the phone.

Does anyone have any suggestions on something else I could try?

All I can say is good luck. There seems to be a lot of people having the same problem as you since there are so many threads on this very topic. I use Vista Business and have the latest WMDC and see the same issues. Yet I am running vetvito's black pill WM 6.1 rom and am with Sprint. That said, it seems to be an issue with Vista...

I know that when my PC does not recognize my phone and I reboot the PC, it always finds it for the first sync. I also know that MyMobiler always sees my phone, when WMDC does about 1 in 3 times. It is a very frustrating issue...

I read both and didn't find anything that helped. I notice that I hear the tone that shows the connection to the PC when I plug in the device, I also notice I hear the connection drop randomly weather it shows a connection to Sync Center or not.

I have also noticed that unless I open the Windows Mobile Device Center window, the Sync Center windows (where it shows the devices) never shows a connection.

I have also tried blue-tooth connection with the same results. I notice the phone's active sync shows connected while the desktop disconnects for no apparent reason.

look under: Why can't I see my device in Sync Center even though I've previously set it up to sync?

What worked for me was to remove the device from the device manager (select it and press delete) and connecting my device again. It's a big inconvenience but at least works...

Ok, just saw that my synch wouldn't work because I had disabled the "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" which is in the "Network Adapters" section in the "Device Manager".

I am running Vista Business 32b and Sprint's latest "leaked" ROM 3.56.651.0

I uninstalled all the Windows Mobile stuff in Programs and features.

Rebooted

Plugged in my Phone

Then ran the new WMDC 6.1 that I downloaded.

Keeping the phone hooked up at all times.......

Seemed to fix my issues

I also have run it with Advanced Network checked and unchecked. When I ran it unchecked......Vista loaded an HTC USB driver I'd never seen before pop up......

I am using the new Treo 800w with Vista Home Premium, and I've downloaded the latest WMDC directly from Microsoft. It sounds like I'm having the exact same issues as you are. I've just deleted my partnership on my laptop, and am resyncing now. However, this is not a very good solution because who wants to sit through total resyncs every day? The Treo 800w comes standard with WinMo 6.1.

I'll be eagerly watching this thread to see if someone comes up with a good solution. I'm not interested in any cooked ROMS, and I realize this is a Titan thread, but your problem sounds identical to what I am seeing, so hopefully somebody will figure this out. I'm loving this new Treo, and won't give it up because of this, but this is keeping it from being a perfectly stellar experience. ;-)
