All on the same row...Sound like a hardware problem. Sign up for insurance, QUICK!

When I used to use the E815, I had a whole collection of them that I'd use for parts and as back up phones. Occasionally, a hair would slide underneath the inner part of the keyboard when I took it out and prevent the key's from functioning properly. I've never taken apart the XV6800 (and don't intend to unless I must), but since all the keys you mentioned are in the same area and in a straight path, its quite possible that a hair got under there.

My blue dot button stopped working. Just bought a used keyboard for $20 to remedy that.

There was a cab file there to make that problem go away. It was suppose to be on the HTC website if I remember right. Try looking in the upgrades section and just look up "keyboard" it should pop up under there.

I've been so frustrated with this phone ever since my keys starting acting up. The period and the blue dot happens almost all the time. My top row is pretty bad. Hope that fix someone posted will help.

LOL this issue has gotten me a new 6800 via insurance and the 150 upgrade credit added to my account through sprint.

If only Cell carriers embraced using places like this and the freelance stuff think of all the money they could save.

Thanks PPC Geeks :)

Re: keyboard problem

I am having the same issues with my bottom row, sometimes I have to hit the space bar like 7 times for it to register and when it does it may send 2 or 3 spaces to my text. Very strange, happens with the other keys on the bottom two rows in the left hand corner.

I'm leary about a download fixing this, sounds more like a hardware issue to me? How does this keyboard fix work?

Tridge,

I thought the same thing hence why I called sprint and had them send me a new phone but then when I started using this new phone and got the same issues I assumed hardware again.

Then I found this thread and tried it....VOILA it works like a champ give it a shot I promise you will not be disappointed.

Re: keyboard problem

I installed the fix and it seems to have increased the response time a little...I will need more testing, but for sure it has NOT fixed the space bar issue, still does not type correctly.

Will this work with the keyboard lights as well? Sometimes mine works.. sometimes it doesn't.. usually I slide out the keyboard and it comes on and turns off not even a full second... any thoughts?

Re: keyboard problem

Wow. I thought my mogul was screwed. Thank you PPC Geeks! Can anyone tell me what is actually in this fix? I'd love to know how you just magically fixed what I had assumed was a hardware issue. I was about ready to run screaming into a Sprint store demanding a new unit. I still have a white spot on my screen, so I might still do that, but I'm in far less of a hurry to get it fixed/refurbished/replaced now. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for posting this fix. I thought I was going nuts after updating my Sprint Mogul to WM 6.1. Now my slide-out keyboard is back to normal. Thanks again!!!

Re: keyboard problem

I have some issues with the letters Q,L,O,A and Z. What seems to be happening is, when I push these letters in, it will come up with a little screen asking me if I use a different letter or symbol. For example, when Q is pressed, it comes up with a little window that says basically, do you want to use the @ sign or W. This only happens with the letters above. Everything else works fine. In the input settings, I turned off the enable auto correction and word suggestion. I even ran the fix and it still seems to do the same thing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance

Mike

Re: keyboard problem

Hmm, I occasionally have blue dot issues - I know I've pressed the thing, but instead of giving me the comma I asked for, it just goes back a space, very annoying. Also had the repeated keys, backspacing all those was really increasing the effort it took to send a text message.

Tried the fix, and while it didn't fix my blue dot, it does seem to have fixed the repetition! I'd thought a hardware problem would be the cause too, so great to see it's not my keyboard giving up the ghost. Thanks! One out of two down. :)
