Problems connecting - Vista/Norton 360
I'm trying to help out a friend who has an HTC phone (the S720, but the same thing happens if I plug my phone in) and it's been a pain in the ***
She has Norton 360 and ALSO had Windows Firewall running. Flipped off Windows Firewall, but the second I plug in her phone, the computer looks back at me and, well, says NOTHING. If I have the device manager open, I can see it refreshing the devices, but nothing shows up. I ASSUME it has something to do with 360 (stupid norton grumble) - but I haven't had much of a chance to kick it around. Any preliminary thoughts on what the issue might be? Thanks!! |

EDIT: I also had Norton 360 running on my Vista machine, I doubt that Norton is doing anything to block the phone, usually Norton will ask what to do (or show what it blocked) if it is the first time doing so. |
Re: Problems connecting - Vista/Norton 360
Problem solved!
Stupidly there were 2 firewalls running, 360 and Windows Firewall. Turned off the windows firewall and all was good :) Well, sort of. I had to fight to turn everything off of trying to sync with Exchange (Outlook wasn't initially installed, oops) I guess Windows Mobile can't sync with any other programs for calendar and such, can they? |
