Touch dual to replace mogul? Not the Raphael?

Hey guys,
I was just doing some reading and it seems that the touch dual with a hardware keyboard, gps, rev a, and (wifi i think) is hitting the shelves in gsm form here in the states. If it ever hits cdma, how would sprint/vzw ever sell another mogul?
The only difference would be the hard buttons from what I can see.

Question is, if the touch dual is a mogul with a better form factor, why is sprint touting the raphael as the next-gen mogul?

Not to start a flamer war, just clarification please.

I'm probably missing something.

Wups, I went to hit reply and I ended up "thanking" you instead. Anyways...from what I understand that touch Duo or whatever its called isnt a full querty keyboard. It's more like a dial pad that has a few keyboard functions built in.

I would guess its like the touch's 20 button on screen keyboard.

I just looked it up on the HTC site for europe, and you're exactly right.. It's a 20 button keyboard, very similar to the onscreen keyboard on a touch, or the hardware keyboard on a BB pearl.

I'm not sure if this link will work, but I'll post it anyway..

are you kidding me? the touch dual is NOTHING like the mogul.. its only a 20 key slideout, not a full qwerty keyboard like the mogul.. idk where you got that the touch dual was basically a mogul but that is definately not the case, if anything, you would say its a touch.. jus with a slideout keyboard an wifi.. THAT is why raphael is the next-gen mogul.

The reason Sprint has chosen the Raphael as the Mogul's successor is because it has more features and a full keyboard, and because as you have noticed, the touch dual is GSM, whereas the Raphael is CDMA.

yea switching a mogul to a dual isnt really an upgrade, i believe that the touch dual is like a htc touch 1.5, sorta like a middleman before the diamond is released in my book

I wonder if the 16 or the 20 key one is just GSM or CDMA specific?? Like the 20 Key only comes in GSM etc?? I still prefer a full qwerty anyway

HTC nor Sprint have announced that the Touch Dual is going CDMA... I highly doubt that it will - it may just cannibalize sales of the Touch.

The Raphael and the Touch are aimed at totally different markets and it makes completely perfect sense for Sprint to choose the Raphael to replace the Mogul.

Further than that, the Raphael will have the new Manila interface as well as full hardware acceleration... The Touch Dual does not have that.

I think for it to stay in a good market its going to have to be cheaper then the iPhone. The second release of the iPhone is supposed to be 2 year contract priced with AT&T for $199.00. We will see what the Raphael comes in at..

When you stated "full hardware acceleration" were you referring to gpu drivers?
