Re: ICS Control Config?

It works, but the GPS still hangs if I do it that way. Turning it off in the comm manager before shutting the switch off keeps it from happening at all on boot and the GPS works quickly.

Re: ICS Control Config?

not working for me, I am running Vista on my laptop, and it does not work. are u doing it under XP, as that might be the difference. Man WMWifiRouter was so much easier, too bad it doesn't work and is no longer free. it used to work right off the bat, no configuration needed, I have tried so many things, but it doesnt seem to be working.

Re: ICS Control Config?

Well, everything setup wise on the 6800 should be the same. Not sure what it takes to connect vista to an ad-hoc network. Fortunately, I'm still running XP on my PCs. Waiting for Service Pack 18 to release for Vista before I switch. :D

Might try running through those instructions again from scratch and see what happens. Oddly enough, sometimes repetition gets things to work on subsequent tries. Who knows why...

Well I have tried many times without any success, so i decided i would try to get WMWifiRouter to work, and it did, so I no longer need ICS Control, although it would have been nice to have some of the other features that it offers, but it is just to hard to work with, with WMWifiRouter I just installed and it worked fine.

Success! Working 100%!

Here's how I made it work on my 6800. I'm posting over ICS wifi on a laptop.

1. Turn on your phones wifi switch
2. GO to start - settings - connections - wifi
3. Click on add new
4. Give your network a name where it says SSID
5. In the drop down box pick "work"
6. Check mark device to device network and hit next
7. Authentication = Open
8. Data Encryption = Disabled hit next
9. Click finish.
10. Bottom of main window select Network Adaptors tab.
11. Change drop down box to "The Internet"
12. Go to laptop and do a search for wireless networks. Connect to your new one. :)
13. Open ICS Control
14. Scroll down to bottom and click Set All Defaults, then go back to top
15. Public Interface = Cellular Line
16. Private Interface = TNETW12511
17. Check "Set private ip" and in drop down pick 10.0.10.1
18. Select Auto Connect to network and pick your providers connection in the drop down
19. UNCHECK Allow Suspend mode.
20. Power off wifi by tripping switch on side of 6800, then turn back on. give it a minute and double check to make sure it's connected to the laptop again on both ends. if not, go back to the laptop and open the "Search for networks" box again and connect to it.

ON ICS CONTROL CLICK "START ICS" Give it a minute to connect to your cell provider and then give the laptop a try. It should have active internet connection with NO CORDS!!! :)

Side note. IF you are having problems, make sure that in your network connections on the LAPTOP that none are displayed as shared. TURN OFF SHARING ON ANY THAT ARE. That was totally screwing me up by changing IP adressess on my wireless card after ICS did.

Another side note. While using, you might want to set the phone up to not auto power down when not used. This caused me some disconnect issues.

If this worked for anyone, hit that thanks button. :D

I'm AUDI.....

I do have one problem here, all seemed working fine per your instructions, but since i set my Mogul to go to stannby after 2 minutes,ICS Control did not keep the device active even I uncheck "Allow Suspend Mode",so my lapotp lost connection to the device after 2 minutes since Mogul goes to standby after 2 minutes, how did u make to to work?thanks.

Re: ICS Control Config?

Unfortunately, I have noticed the same issues when using certain radio roms. I know 3.35 did this to me, so when using ICS Control I had to uncheck "Turn off device if unused for..." in the power settings.

I just keep mine set to where the backlight drops out, but the device stays fully powered. If I'm just using ICS Control and Wifi, and have bluetooth off, that the battery holds pretty well.

Unfortunate drawback I know, as I had the same problem with the Apache since it's wifi shuts down when in standby and the was absolutely no way of getting around it.

Thanks, Veedubguru. Worked great. Like another poster, I added WEP keys. I wasn't sure how much oomph the XV6800 had, so I went outside and found that the signal reachout to the edge of my property. I don't think it is strong enough to enter a neighbor's home, but I don't want to take chances.

Anyone tried to connect multiple laptops using one VX6800? I have several situations where this might be great, business meetings and such. Talk about wowing your pears at the office!!!

I did something similar to what you suggest. I connected my laptop and a desktop in my home at the same time. Worked fine - both computers accessed the internet no problem.
