WM6.1 Official Update Scheduled in July

I learned that a update is coming out for Sprint's Mogul and Touch for WM6.1 in July. WM6.1 will have threaded text messaging, new device manager, sliding panel home screen, PTT enhancement(wouldn't count on Qchat yet), Zoom support and page overview, bluetooth auto pairing, and bluetooth phonebook access! Woo-hoo

Ok, I will apologize in advance for my ignorance, I just got my Mogul last week, is there any updates that I need to get for my phone?

soft reset your phone and look at the bottom for the rom version. 3.35 is the latest official release I believe. then check the stickies at the top of the titan upgrades forum for the next phase.

Hey Ddrake,

Where exactly did you get this info? Just curious, but looks promising! Is there a link to this info that I can read over? Im curious as to what other enhancements their making in the next release.

Thanks,
TWIN

yea but theres nothing better than an official rom alot less bugs and problems i feel very unconfortable installing a kitchen rom or any custom rom of any sort

Re: WM6.1 Official Update Scheduled in July

the funny thing about that is i have had less bugs with custom than i have had with official ROMS.

sometimes the cooked ROMs are more stable and less bulky then the "official". As far as the new update, it wont have anything to do with PTT. To be able to use the new system, you'll have to have a independent PTT button and the Mogul has no such button.

i work for Sprint, and i just had a data traing this morning. Sprint won't announce the update to the public until the time they release it so people won't call in about it. July is the target date for the software and the new windows palm. i found the price on the instinct today too, it's cheap.

i know what you mean but that voice record button looks like a good potential ptt button if they did integrate official ptt into the mogul... that said your right, but this is my first time hearing anything about sprint adding this with the new rom... and I don't really believe its going to happen, but if it does swell. anyway for anyone who's looking for a PTT solution right now there's Palringo, works really well and is alot of fun!

Though most Official ROMs have more bugs than the cooked ROMs, the official ones generally have enhancements to them that make cooked ROMs even better. Thats the only reason I look forward to new Sprint ROMs.

PTT would be interesting. I've often wondered why the PDAs dont come with it. As far as I know, Sprint's PTT simply uses a data packet to send the message, hence why its slower than Nextel, well, I know it was slower, I assume it still is.

Re: WM6.1 Official Update Scheduled in July

Sorry guys, I re-read my info and it's not Direct connect, it's Direct Push Technology Enhancements for Exchange---Redesigned synchronization acrchitecture that reduces bandwith usage by 60 percent and improves battery life by up to 33 percent with Microsoft Exchange server 2007 only.

But Sprint will be coming out with new Qchat PDA phones this year, the curve was suppose to have it. Nothing with Windows mobile yet tho.

Re: WM6.1 Official Update Scheduled in July

how much is the instinct and will it be worth going from the mogul to?

DDrake 05-22-2008 12:14 PM

Re: WM6.1 Official Update Scheduled in July

Instinct will be running under $200 with new act/qual upgrade. It has GPS/Rev A. But samsung's OS. My mogul can do more as of this moment, but the instinct will be a great phone to add to Sprint's line up.

That date is sad if its true i just read that windows 6.1 official update might

be out in a few days for the AT&T tilt/TyTn 2, So AT&T maybe deliver this

before sprint, Sprint sure is not doing enough to keep people staying with

them if you ask me with all the crap they are pulling they are just asking

people to leave which if iphone 2 looks good i am jumping out of the sprint

ship.

Isn't that zoom the same as we get in the cooked up ROMs from the leaked update?
I have to say it's not that great. After Safari came we expected MS to come out with something better not something this cheesy. it's a shame. What kind of inovation is this? it's not even that user friendly.
I'm not impressed. Can no one come close to Safari? The best I've seen is Picsel Browser, but that kind of disappeared. no updates. and the version I have is not able to download anyting. So it's just good for viewing things.
