Google Maps Question

Hello Everyone,

I had a quick question for you in reference to using Google Maps on the HTC Mogul.

I am able to use Google Maps on my Mogul... HOWEVER...

Not sure if I have a setting programmed incorrectly... BUT...

Say I am looking for directions...

I plug in my START as "GPS LOCATION."

I then plug in my "TO ADDRESS."

Everything populates and I get the breakdown of turns and time it's going to get me there, data.

Then I see the little "blue dot" on the screen that signifies where I am...

Then as I start to move, the "blue location dot" also moves.

(Here's my problem / where my question comes in)

I have noticed that the only way I can follow the "route" that Google has has mapped out for me, is by toggling the center directional (joystick) button on the bottom center of the device.

Is this NORMAL? Do I really have to toggle the joystick to follow the blue dot as it moves around the planned route?

Does my explanation make sense?

I was thinking that while Google Maps is a FREE program, it would still have some attributes of a paid commercial program and at least refresh my location as I moved. It seems like with Google Maps, the program is indeed mapping your location and route...but you have to follow the dot" as it leaves the screen in order to see your route.

Am I really doing something wrong here? Is a setting off, that SHOULD allow Google Maps to "refresh" my location so I don't have to keep toggling the joystick?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Re: Google Maps Question

Bring up the on-screen keyboard or numerical keypad and press "0" (zero). It will center your GPS location and follow it on-screen. If you tap anywhere on the screen, it will no longer follow the GPS position. Press 0 again to stay centered on your GPS location. Please try this and let us know if it worked.

You can also press menu from this screen and you will see my location at the top of the list high light and press center button on the D-pad and the map will center and follow your location. I find this a little easier that pressing 0 but both work the same.
