Play audio and phonecalls over pc speakers via usb?

I'm mainly interested in connecting my phone via usb to play phonecalls through the computer speakers so that I don't have to use those crappy earphones, listen to the terrible speakerphone, or balance this brick against my ear while I'm working.

I was able to dig up another thread with an ad2p solution, but is there not a simple way to do this via the usb cable? The pins MUST contain the audio signal since that's how the headset gets it.

Use the adapter that came in the box and buy a sub mini to mini adapter at a local RadioShack/ BestBuy then plug your speaker jack into that. It's what I do

The Radioshack adapter you need is: p/n 274-004

If you want a pinout of the connector, I can attach (sp) it when I get home.

Going to go check the box now, i didn't know I had anything that adapted the usb to a 2.5.

oK, i found it. I thought i had all the adapters. This will work just fine. although it's a bit of a pain in the *** having to have an extra connector and wire running into my computer. (i charge via the usb cable cause i'm on the internet with it alot and syncing)

I don't know how one would go about it, but I would think that there's a way to access the audio signal from the usb cable considering the headphones do the same thing.

Oh sweet that's what I was looking for! I was thinking we'd have to build a digital to analog adapter or use assembly code? to pull the signal from the usb cable, but it's just analog after all??

It also appears that the usb adapter doesn't even have pins for the audio side of that connector, so a program would need to be written for the phone to push the digital audio signal over the usb, similar to how it pushes it for bluetooth, and that's beyond me.
