Technically we don't need car insurance but it isn't about my own personal driving abilities, about retards that could potentially damage my car. In the case of your phone you can prevent it. Dont toss it around like a FAR phone, dont take it with you bunjee jumping over a river... its not that difficult. It won't happen to me, though.

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?
I didnt read the entire thread, so Im sorry if Im repeating someone else....
First, I am a Sprint tech and want to clarify that TEP only covers the phone. No stylus', batteries, battery covers, anything other than the phone itself. So while I see how it can be frustrating that they dont just hand you a battery cover, it's not what you're paying your $7 for. Also, I have never seen a phone just lose screws. I dont believe your screws are falling out for one second. Either you've dropped the phone and it was damaged to the point the screws are falling out, or someone tried to open the phone. That said, I have dozens of extra battery covers, if you still need one, Ill send it to you. Send me a PM if needed with the details. |

Bottom line, it is a personal decision whether you want to carry insurance on your own car (without a loan or lease requirement), your health, or your phone. It is not an inherently wrong decision either way. If you can afford and are willing to pay the possible costs without insurance, then no insurance could be a right choice for you. If you would rather spend a known amount that spreads the costs out over a period of time, then insurance could be a right choice for you. No reason to bash someone who made a different decision than you did or is in a different situation than you are. Just realize that your decision, whichever one you make, may look like the wrong one in hindsight. And I am old enough to know that "It won't happen to me" is no protection. |

Re: Why do I pay sprint for insurance?!?
personally, i prefer knowing that if my phone breaks i wont kill myself. look at the math of it. ok you pay $7 a month and say u keep your phone for two years. 24*7=$168. so instead of having your phone break and paying $550 for a new one. the maximum of 168 you pay for insurance is nearly a third of that. in my opinion, insurance is the best investment you could make on your phone

and yes some states only require liability for other drivers. i do plpd because my car sucks. "it wont happen to me" is good enough insurance for me. if you need insurance on your phone you need insurance on everything you own... shirt insurance. wallet insurance. bottle of water insurance. |

Hey do they offer shirt insurance? I have a Tee that is getting some holes and I really like it. I would insure that sucker in a heartbeat. really though... a cell phone is kind of a unique situation simply because its my connection to the world. If my phone falls and breaks I dont want to have to wait days to do an ebay or go though the hassle of a craiglist transaction i just want to call or go to sprint and have a new one the next morning no questions asked. |

I love my insurance. (Alltel) With my previous phones that wouldnt even take a pic I never had it. At the time I broke an elcheapo and had to but a no features phone w/o contract and paid a lot of money for a plane jane phone and got my feelings hurt. From there on out I kept insurance. Fast forward to pocket pc's... I went from a Keyocera SOHO KX1 to a PPC 6700 that retailed from 600 in store to 350 on Ebay. Ive baptized 2 and broke 2.... insurance rocks, lol
