Actually.. looks like its still sporting an MSM7500 chipset with the little 'A' at the end. What could that mean? 500mhz of processing glory? Lets hope they didnt put 64mb of ram in this as a sick joke.

Looks like the Raphael and Diamond are identical on the face, just one is missing the keyboard.

tasty and finger smudgy at the same time.

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

Touchflo is going to come standard on the Raphael as well, that will be nice.

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

Looks like the XPERIA is running the GSM variant of the Qualcomm MSM7200A chipset at 528mhz, so I assume we can expect the same performance with this phone.

akijikan 04-23-2008 01:37 AM

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

if you look closely at the spec sheets it will run the forth-coming MSM7500A which appears to be the same as the 7500 but manufactured on a 65nm process instead of a 90nm according to this [pdf]

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

The preliminary specs look niiiiice!

But would like to see some concrete specs before making any judgments... like size and weight

I wouldn't mind having a phone with MORE RAM but I'm not interested in getting something that is larger in size.

Very nice looking.

I hope it isn't as big and awkward looking as the pics make it look.

It really does. The big display especially. Can't say anything bad about that.

I don't think anyone is dumb enough to toy with our emotions like that... we are too strong in numbers :)

Just remember how long it took for the 6800 to come out here state side. The cunucks had it in April/May a year ago. I had to goto Toronto to play with it before it came here. So as far as a release date, I wouldn't hold my breath on it being out this year.

Looking good, can't wait.. Not sure if I will be an early adopter, because I still have a ways to go with this contract.

Can I buy the phone aftermarket and have Sprint switch my current Sero plan over to the new phone?

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

Wow, 2.8" in VGA, that's going to be one fine pitch LCD!

They look nice. Just from looks, it appears as though it will be narrower but slightly longer than the Mogul.

You can buy any sprint phone with a clean ESN and swap ESN. It's like swapping a SIM card in a GSM phone except you have to call customer service or do it online on sprint's website.

it actually looks more like the T-MOBILE Shadow but with a full qwerty keyboard. From the pics it also looks like the screen might be flush. Would be nice if it was glass instead of this plastic.

do you know how eZ that would be to end up broken? i would NOT want GLASS

GnatGoSplat 04-23-2008 08:17 PM

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

If it were glass, it would be a capacitative touchscreen like the iPhone. If you look for broken iPhones on eBay, the most common problem is cracked touchscreen glass. The touchscreen assemblies run about $180+ so not really worth replacing.
I don't think glass is a very good idea, although it does make the screen feel nice.

VGA!!! :D :D :D

I hope it will use ATi drivers and have 128MB RAM...

You'd better read that spec sheet a little more carefully. It says that this new phone will have VGA color, not VGA resolution. Actual pixels on the display are spec'd as "TBD". So don't expect 640x480.

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

If they pump out another QVGA phone in 2008 I'll give up completely on them and get an unlocked phone for at&t.. I mean this is ridiculous.

Oh, this phone might be useful for international calling. The 7500A appears to have GSM/GPRS capability in it.

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

Wow, that's misleading. "VGA color", WTF is that? VGA can be grayscale, 64k colors, 262k colors, 16.7m colors... it's a resolution, not number of colors. Someone at HTC is a dummy if that's what they meant.

Or maybe it's all a hoax...

You need to read the wikipedia page then for VGA, it can mean color depth as well as a resolution, as well as many other things....

Re: Titan/Mogul/6800 Succesor Revealed

If that is true about the VGA.. why do they insist on screwing us out of 1999 technology?

so well have to buy the successor which will be exactly the same with 10 more mb or ram?

The Wikipedia article listing VGA specs was mainly historical, what the original VGA specs were when IBM introduced it in 1987.
Nobody uses "VGA" to describe number of colors anymore, if they ever did.

Since its not the Titan, the convo should stay in the linked thread. I hope GSM users (like me) get the Xperia first though :p
