Weather application

I've used SPD Weather (which I thought was the best)

It isn't good enough, it doesn't even display all the information the source supplies...plus you have to hack your own templates just to select custom sources.

What's the best weather app out there, money isn't a issue, if it works well it's worth it.

Weather channel is $35 a year, I would like a free one (since I barged into this thread, I hope it will help some other people.) Are there any free ones out there that will show maps and such like the weather.com one does???

YEs there are free ones but maps to not work as well. I also have Weather Panel, you can make it flashy but installing locations and putting in radar is not that great.

Selecting radars isn't that difficult and sometimes you can choose several different radars for the same region. I also like that the radar images are are saved in your phone should you lose your connection.

The images are too small and do not work well with most radars in Dallas.

I have found I like Memory-Map Weather Radar for viewing radar images only

I've been using FizzWeather since my MotoQ. Has a nice plug-in for your today screen.

Cool I'll check it out, do you know what service it uses for the source?

I cannot get any of the state radars to show on screen. The infareds work, but none of the state ones do. I have tried several different cities to try and refresh, but nothing works.](*,)

From the settings tab, select a city then tap edit. The tap in the gray box weather images, from the pull down menu select a new image. OK, OK, OK, then from the settings tab select update and see the new radar. Sometimes when you add a new city, the image isn't automatically inserted. Hope this helps.

Good point. It helps to have weather on the today screen.

Re: Weather application

Despite all its shortcomings, SPB weather has remained a fixture on my Today screen for years. Fizzweather was too memory intensive and buggy.

I have a custom template for US cities that I copy to the Template folder and setup my home town, due to Gismetos seriously lacking city database. After doing this over a couple of ROM updates, I can make all the clicks in seconds with my eyes closed. With Autorun or UC you should be able to automate the process following an update.

If anyone needs the custom Template for US cities, I can probably upload it on PPCGEEKS.

I'm Canadian, and I already have custom templates, problem is they don't appear to be very...good.

The Weather Network one I have works properly but lacks in data, like accumulated rain predictions and such, the other, Environment Canada, has ceased to work altogether likely due to the website layout changes.

Is there a place for up to date custom templates?

Here is the weather template I use. Copy the tpl file included in the zip to the Template folder in SPB weather. Open Tools, Weather Sources and browse to the tpl file. Then select custom city and use the Weather Source as your option rather than Gismeto.

Let me know if the information is present for the cities you need. It fixed my problem on not being able to locate my city by name or Zip in the database.
