Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Does that make sense? LOL OK here's what I'm aiming for; I'm looking for a way to continue whatever I was doing on my device before an incoming call came in WITHOUT ignoring (hanging up) on the caller. Is this at all possible? Pretty much, I want to minimize the incoming call box and continue what I was doing before the call came in.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Umm... If I understand you right, you can just tap the 'X' in the top right hand corner and it will take you to the Today screen...
To go back to your call window the left softkey should be labeled 'call status', press that to resume your call window |
Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Thanks for the response trobb, but I think you're misunderstanding me. I know it's does sound a lil confusing though! Hmmmm, for example, I'm sending a text message and someone calls; I don't want to ignore (hang up) on them, just simply, stop the device from ringing/vibrating and minimize the incoming call box so I can continue with my text message.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Basically like non-smart phones ring and you push a side button to silence the call, but not ignore/hang-up the call (which would make it auto go to voicemail). So far I have no found a way to do this easily (okay, or at all) with PPCs. I would like to know this too. I push the power button, but it turns back on and rings on the next "ring" for that call.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
So are you planning on answering the call or something?

I understand what he is getting at... he wants to be able to ignore the call, but at the same time not send them to voicemail.

Thats pretty much how I understand it too. Basically you want to ignore the call but not send them right to voicemail as if your ignoring the call, You want them to still hear all the rings before it goes to VM. I hate when someone sends me right to voicemail. |
Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
yea what u guys r sayin is what he's tryna get at. he wants to ignore the call w/o sending em to voicemail but what he's lookikn for is a way to get the call pop-up box that displays who's callin n there number to be minimized somehow so he can finish what he was currently doing before the call came in then call them back but do so without having to hit ignore.I think it would be interesting if someone could figure something like this out I've wondered if there was a way to do so myself

Took a bit of effort, but we got it!

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
I don't understand something, here and I'm just plain flummoxed. How can you prevent a call from going to voicemail UNLESS you answer it?
I mean it WILL go to voicemail after a certain number of rings. How important a text message must that be ("help i'm trapped under something heavy, oh wait, I've got a call, let me minimize it, still trapped help") to ignore it for a text message? |
Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
sanjsrik - When you ignore the call, the person calling knows you ignored the call because they went straight to voicemail rather than ringing the usual number of times. It's not about preventing it from going to voicemal. It's about preventing it from going to voicemail early. This could be because you're in the middle of something, or because you just don't want to talk to the person right now. The key is not letting them know that you don't think their call is important at the moment.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Yes,
Alot of people will get insulted if you put them right to voicemail. This would be a great app to get for us! I loved the ability to do that with old non-smartphones. |
Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
why not just respond with a text message? One of the options is ignore with text message. I do this al the time. You can even have stock text messages that pop up.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
agreed. a more robust notification setup would help alot. I am often annoyed by the duplicate notifications when v/m is left (missed and v/m) but i realize it would be hard to "combine" them.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
I wish there was a way for sprint to have visual voicemails! Now with their unlimited plans... we can technically make a program that would answer every call after "blank" seconds and play your recorded voicemail, open a voice recorder, save the caller ID information, and have it... Only would be good if ran in the background and the microphone muted so the person can not hear whats going on .

That sounds awesome... I hate it, but I have a habit of ignoring people's calls so I can get back to the screen underneath.

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Maybe it's just my phone but when I want to ignore a call without "ignoring" the call and sending them to voicemail, I just hit the red end call button. It still acts like the call is there but no longer rings/vibrates and the caller has not been sent to voicemail.
I hope that helps. |

Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
It's interesting how not many people understood what the OP was saying... I've been wanting a program like this for awhile - I've been texting or e-mailing or in my calendar (you get the drift) and someone calls... sometimes I have to tell them to hold on... regardless.
I don't actually believe this would be possible to do, though - "Ignoring without ignoring" |
Re: Minimize incoming call without ignoring the call.
Why wouldn't it be possible? "cheap" phones can do it, so why wouldn't the mogul be able to?
