Function Key Alternative
Hi Everyone, It's been a long while since I have had to ask a question but I must find this program...
Before I get blasted... YES, I did search but still couldn't find what I was looking for! I currently swap between the Touch & The Mogul (depending on how I feel and which one fits into my cute little purse that day) and I remember when customizing my Mogul when it was released last year, downloading a program that allowed you to bypass using the function "fn" key when texting by holding a key down for a few seconds for a symbol and quickly double clicking to use a capital letter. Come to think of it... I may have had it on my Treo 700p as well. Does anyone know of or remember what program this may have been? Please help me figure this out. I would much rather have this option than using the function key all the time... Thanks in Advance. Its some type of Keyboard hack. |
Re: Function Key Alternative
if you are trying to make the keys lock, try double clicking the key to lock it.
ie: You want all caps - double click the caps key You want the funtion key locked in - double click the Fn key I think this is the stock function w/ the hardware and soft keyboards... |
Re: Function Key Alternative
I know this NUGUY,
This is not what I was referring to but thanks. |
Re: Function Key Alternative
Sorry, I have no idea what you are actually trying to do then. You may get a better answer if you clairified your question.

Okay I found one!
Check This Out: http://mobiion.com/mgkblguide.html I downloaded and tried it...works great. I had to create a new "Key Map" because the default was for the Treo750 ... I will post the Keymap here in a little while. It is simple to do but will take at least 15 mins to complete. The Mogul6800 is the Key Map for the Mogul. If you save program to the device you will have a folder in "MY DOCUMENTS" named "MagiKB Lite"; here is where you will add the Mogul6800 "key Map" file. Do This Before Attempting to Use The Program Otherwise Your Key Taps Will Not Be Properly Configured!!! If there are any descrepencies in the key presses please post them here and I will try to correct them OR Please feel free to post any corrections as well. I just ran thru it quickly to give it a test run...so excuse any mistakes I may have made due to rushing thru it. This is a trial version!! The Program costs $14.95 to purchase. Try it, if you like it.. Buy it. It is a lifesaver for me. I loved keycaps on my Treo and I now have the convenience of teting w/o having to use shift or FN keys once again. Thanks for all the responses. |
Re: Function Key Alternative
Thank you Blaq!
That works perfectly. A program like this is the only thing I've been missing from my old Treo 650 days. I am loving it! E. |
Re: Function Key Alternative
You may have intended it to be this way, but when I hold down on the (period key) It just repeats periods rather quickly, and won't switch to a (zero).
Same with the (comma, left arrow key). |
Re: Function Key Alternative
couldn't figure out how to switch the comma key because it is also A directional key. Not saying it can't be done but I haven't figured it out yet.
To change THE "." AND "0" KEY... From the main menu... 1. click MENU...Edit Key-Mapping...Menu...Add New... 2. In "key code" field put a "." then change type to VKEY <will change key code to 0xBE 3. In "shift code" field type "." and in "option code" type "0" <as in the number> 4. In "String" field type ".0" select ok at the Bottom go to menu and Save As Mogul6800 This will fix the issue posted by nosmohatac |
