unwanted text messages

Hello,

Through Sprint, I am allowed some 100 text messages/mo.
Typically I only receive texts from only a few friends, however recently I seem to have received some from an UNDISCLOSED ...

I am supposed to be on the Do Not Call Registry...

Is there anyway to reject text unless from someone in Contacts?
or any other option?

Thank you for your time

I thought the DNCL was only for Home land lines. I know my Business line can not be signed up. I use a call block program that also can be used for text blocking.

Do a search for call firewall. Works well with calls and mms, sms etc and is freeware and easy to use. Can also set up on a schedule.

FYI DNC registry is for ANY number. By the way Federal Law prevents any collection services to call your cell phone, even if that is the only contact number you have. Fair Debt and Credit Protection Act sometimes works good.

Hmmmm...I don't want to hijack this thread too much, but with phone number portability, how does anyone these days know that they number they are calling is a cell number??

I had a situation last week where I couldn't fax to a phone number in my same area code. Turns out the number had been moved and is now somewhere else geographically, making it a long distance call- and I don't have long distance on my landline.

Very confusing.

Recently Verizon sent out an "opt-out" notice for sharing information (presumably your cell) phone number with other providers. I don't remember what it was called exactly, but you may want to call up Sprint and see if there is an "opt-out" that you can use.

You have to inform them it is a cell line or other cost associated line.

Have you gone to the "Online Tools" on the sprint www for "Text" and try entering UNDISCLOSED in the block list...dont know if it will work since it asked for:

"Enter a 10-19 digit phone number, an email address, or an entire domain (e.g, spammer.com):"

Re: unwanted text messages

How can you tell if a phone number is a cell or home?

EASY.

When you leave a message and if the user dont pick it up, you are always greated with the message "You have reach the Sprint PCS Number of #### ... "

See, a dead give away.

Get on the SERO plan. Unlimited SMS. :-)
