Mogul & Seidio car kit
I have a Mogul & the G4700x Charging Car Kit from Seidio. Since I have upgraded to the new Rom 3.35 from 2.17 I can not talk on my Mogul using my Bluetooth headset (Blue Ant Z9)when the phone is in the G4700x Charging Car Kit. I can push the button on my headset to answer the phone when the call is picked up it switches to the speaker on the G4700x Charging Car Kit. This problem did not exist when I was using the old Rom. Is there a setting on either the phone or cradle the I can change to be able to use my Bluetooth headset while my phone is in the cradle?

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
That's weird. I'm guessing you've already tried re-pairing it a couple of times?

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
I have not tried to re-pair it yet. When I answer it with the bluetooth headset the person calling can berely get out hello before it switches to the speaker on the cradle, when I remove the phone from the cradle while it is connected the phone will switch back to the bluetooth headset.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
This is a known issue that I have posted about here and at xda developers. repairing will not help and it occurs with the seidio car kit as well as the seidio mini usb to 3.5mm audio adapter. It occurs with the stock new rom as well as DCD's custom kitchen rom on xda dev as well. I am unaware of a fix at this point. I have emailed seidio support but have received no reply. I will try to call today. You are not alone though, I have the same issue. I have at least temporarily reverted to the pre release 3.16 rom with 3.27 radio which doesn't have the issue.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
I just got off the phone with Seidio tech support. They say it is a software issue(obviously) and they can't do anything about it. He suggested that I contact HTC. I will try but am not holding my breath. Suspect that one of the developers at xda such as DCD will be a more likely source of the fix but we'll see. Think this is gonna require a patch or registry mod.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
Shadowreader thanks for the help. I don't understand why it would do it with just the Seidio car cradle. I pluged in the wall charger and the problem did not exist.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
When there is something plugged into the port on the phone that is recognized as an external sound source, the system defaults to that. IE, it assumes that you are wearing something like the headphones that came with the mogul. So it ignores the bluetooth in favor of the "attached headset"
Since the Seido car kit has a speaker, and presents itself to the phone as a "headset" it will default to that until you unplug it. Not sure if the dev guys can fix it |
Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
The charger is different as kilmarac said, it has to do with a plugged in external speaker of any kind. This occurs in my experience with both the Seidio car kit which has a built in audio output jack as well as the seidio headphone adapter. Plugging in a charger is different, that doesn't have pins for sound so it is ignored for audio. This is a bug from what I can tell. Bluetooth should trump a plugged in adapter or car kit while on a call. This worked correctly until the new ROM.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
I had the same problem. Since I use my bluetooth headset more than I used the speaker I switched car kits to the the G4300S CHARGING CAR KIT. It is identical to the 4700X without the speaker.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
I will have a look at the G4300. I was hoping there was a setting on the phone since this problem did not exist with the 2.17 rom.

Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
Just looked at the Seidio web site here what they posted
*NOTE: This G4700x is not compatible with the bluetooth headset or vehicle intergrated bluetooth system, if you have the most recent firmware update, if you are planing to use bluetooth headsets or bluetooth system please consider about the G4300s model. |
Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
I'm planning on picking up a G4700S model, the one that only charges. My Motorola T505 arrived yesterday and works great. I'm just waiting for the extended battery compatible hardcase to be in stock so I can order both.
Then I'm going to see if I can find a way to use proclips mounting system with the Seidio car cradle as I need to move it back and forth between 2 cars. |
Re: Mogul & Seidio car kit
Ely001 I had the same problem as the one you describe but with one of the earlier ROMs (I forget which one). I emailed Seidio and convinced them it was a hardware issue with the 4700. Because the Verizon 6800's headphone port is the same port as the power port whenever a headset, or in this case, a speaker is plugged in to that port the phone looks for sound/commands to come from the headset/speaker/microphone and not from a bluetooth headset. Seidio gave me my money back for the 4700 and I purchased the 4300.
