i cant get wifi to turn on. AT ALL :(
 

greetings. I was hoping somebody could help me. my wifi does not turn on anymore (post 3.35 rom update). the toggle switch doesnt do a thing, and i dont even have a wifi icon in connection settings. well, sometimes its there, but mostly its a network cards icon. Im guessing i did something wrong, but for the life of me, i dont know what i did, or what happened. any suggestions? i miss wifi, so if anyone could please help, id really appreciate it. thx guys. a search gave me no results :( dschoenike

Are you using WMWiFiRouter? Sometimes this happens to me when the program exits and turns off WiFi. Running the program again, or just running the crash cleanup, fixes the problem.

If you're not running WMWiFiRouter, you could try using a different Comm Manager that has WiFi control in it. Let me see if I can dig up the 10 button one I usually use.

Try this one. Just make sure you don't have your current Comm Manager running or it won't be able to install.

That Comm Manager might not work. I just tried it on my phone and the WiFi button doesn't appear to be mapped correctly for the Titan (go figure since apparently it came from a Kaiser...). I'll look around and see if I can find one that has been edited for the Titan.

well i got installed. Here's the new weird thing. (oh yeah, i have a wifi icon again) when i click on the wifi connect button, the little wifi symbol on the top right part of the screen appears for exactly 3 seconds, then disappears again. it wont stay on. :( grrrrr. almost seems like a hardware issue. maybe?

The button on screen won't be able to turn on your wifi if the wifi hard switch is off.

If the switch is on, then the soft button can turn it off (and back on)

Maybe you have a bad switch?

its gotta be a bad switch. i just noticed that wifi was on, and connected to my home router. as fast as it came on, it disappeared. :( anybody here thats smarter than me, know of any programs that would interfere with the wifi? it was working before the rom update, and i havent installed anything different from the previous rom. maybe i should just be happy with rev a. ;) 1200 down and 515 up. thanks guys for trying to help. much appreciated.

my hard button stopped working about 2 months ago. no soft button will fix it, i think its a hardware issue, but at the same time, i notice batt. drain with it on. Just no signal, and it also doesnt show up where it replaces the EV icon....id say hardware

Try to pop out the MicroSD card and switch WIFI on. I had the same issue and that enabled it.

no luck with taking out the storage card for me either. stupid wifi toggle switch :) is that enough to warrant insurance replacement?

I am in the same boat. I'm on Verizon and my wi-fi stopped working after about a day once I installed radio 3.35 and rom DCD 3.0.0.

Same symptoms. Hardware switch doesn't cause wi-fi to turn on. 10-button comm manager with WLAN button doesn't turn it on either. I just get a few-second attempt and a "waiting" symbol and then a return to the off-state icon.

Now, a couple of things happened during the time my wi-fi was working for the first day. Perhaps they're clues. One is that I ran WMWiFiRouter for a short while. Maybe it didn't exit correctly? Another is that I removed HTC Home v2.0 and Home Customizer 1.0b6 in order to update to v2.1 and 1.0final, respectively (both had been installed from CABs, not cooked into the ROM). I had read one thread about wi-fi turning off after installing Home v2.1 so I suspected that. However, returning to v2.0 didn't fix the issue. So, unless a registry entry was permanently changed, that's not it.

So, I'm still at a loss to explain what's going on. I was going to try the WMWiFiRouter crash cleanup next and, if that fails, hard resetting the phone and, if wifi works again, trying to note exactly when it fails again and what I am doing at the time.

Do any of my clues ring a bell regarding your phone?

I'd have to say no. Sounds like a defect to me, so it should be under warranty, not insurance.

I am having the same issues. My WMWifiRouter was working perfectly until a about a month ago. I was still on the stock 2.08 ROM then. I then flashed it to 2.17, my wifi worked then. After several flashing and ending up with DCD's 3.0.1, it is not working again. I also suspect it might be a hardware problem but after reading several pages of DCD's thread, I see that other people are also having problems with their wifi.

Have those of you with wifi problems tried a hard reset? If it is due to something left over from wmwifirouter for example that should fix it.

If that doesn't work and you are on a non-OEM ROM, try flashing back to the OEM ROM and see if that fixes it. You will have to do that anyway prior to taking it into a store for replacement.

ok, i think i may have figured out my problem. now i just need help fixing it (hopefully without a hard reset). when i go to settings/connections/wifi/network adapters- shouldnt it be at "IEEE 802.11b/g compatible wifi ad"? well mine is not, and it wont stay at the IEEE setting. is there a registry value that possibly got changed? is there anyway to get it to stay at IEEE 802.11b/g compatible? thanks in advance if anyone can help me. and for trying if you do :)

I am having the opposite problem. I can't get my WiFi to stay "OFF" on startup with the switch "ON" like it did when I first bought the phone.

I have flashed my phone to the new Official 3.35.651.2 ROM and still no luck in fixing the problem. Anyone else have my problem?

My settings are exactly like yours. I am looking for a way to check that box also.
