Alarm File Format

So I've done searching on the threads and haven't found a solution to this problem. More of a "It is what it is" answer.

It would seem that the only file format that can be played for an alarm ringer is a .wav file. (They take a lot of space and don't blare as loud as a midi to me.) (I currently do not have the issues seen with the alarm by it not going off when in sleep mode. Thats mean my alarm goes off perfectly fine.)

I just upgraded to the 3.35.651.2 ROM without any problems. I do not want to install additional alarm software because I do not like programs running in the background (especially for a function I already have). I am welcome to hearing what software is out there though in case it might be my only solution.

So my question is: Is there any way to play non-.wav files for your alarm ring tone?

Thanks in advance guys, looking through these forums has gotten me a lot of answers with this phone!

Re: Alarm File Format

I know you are not looking for 3rd party software, but I use pTravelAlarm and it works great.
