Gmail App with New Rom

I searched around and didn't see anyone with this problem yet.

Before installing this updated ROM, whenever I tried to use the Java Gmail App, it would complain about a certificate error.

With this new ROM, I tried the same thing and I can't even get to the "Sign In" buttons. At the login screen, I see a spot for my username and password and it seems that the "Exit" and the "Sign In" are under my keyboard where I cannot access them. I only know they are there because when I switch from landscape to portrait, I see them flash by.

Anyone else seen this, and/or know how to bypass it?

Why not just use Gmail in Outlook? You could configure it using the IMAP settings...

Also, the Gmail mobile website is really close to the normal one...

I do use the web version, but was checking the app version.

I never understand this type of reply. It's not constructive.

It's safe to assume that everyone knows the alternate methods of using GMail on their phone. But a new ROM came out and it apparently altered the behavior of an application. One that the original poster has an interest in fixing rather than moving to an alternative method and after appropriately attempting to verify if he is an isolated case.

It's worthwhile to talk about items that have changed with a ROM release, determining their scope as it pertains to others, and determining if there are ways to restore functionality. Without blindly suggesting alternate methods that dismiss the PROBLEM.

That being said, I've reproduced his results. It's definitely a change with the new ROM.

make sure you DO NOT allow the phone to automatically get the settings.. then make the incoming server :imap.gmail.com and the box below IMAP4. Then the outgoing server: smtp.gamail.com then of course your log in info.. You should be good to go. I had issues getting ti to work last night also, this all worked for me.

Does using imap give you instant push or do you still have to send/recieve?

Just wondering. What is the difference between the Gmail App and Setting up a gmail account through the phone(outlook?)? Is one faster?

This works, of course. But it's not what the original poster was talking about. This is Gmail accessed via IMAP in Pocket Outlook. The original comment was about a problem with the Gmail app, which is a java applet. While it has never worked on the Mogul, the behavior has changed.
