Re: Official Sprint ROM 3.35.651.2? Not according to the tech at the local repair cen
Err... Honestly I hear this a lot that some of the reps and techs don't know their heads from their arses. This is true, a few of'em don't. But hey not all reps and techs are boneheads. I make sure that every rep in my market (and even the third party retailers) are well aware of updates and what not. In fact I even ask them to inform the customers that there's an update (we provide handouts with links and instructions if needed) so that folks get the best experience with their devices.
I'm glad you didn't completely go off on the guy though. Kudos to you Do you by chance know the store number?

Re: Official Sprint ROM 3.35.651.2? Not according to the tech at the local repair cen
1. The manager knew about the ROM but the tech did not and because the tech didn't know about it the ROM must not have been legit. He said he knows EVERYTHING and is up to date on all of the models he services.
2. If you have a question about a customers phone the first thing you don't do is make accusations. I'm a Sr. Systems Admin for an automation and robotics company and even though I try to stay on top of things I don't always know everything about a situation so I know it's good to take a minute to investigate something before I shoot off my mouth. The first thing the tech could have done was a) contact someone at Sprit corporate (yeah I'm giggling too as I typed that) or b) ask his manager who knew all about the ROM. Right there the problem would have never happened and he might of actually learned something about a product he supported. All he could do was come out from the back room and shoot off his mouth and accuse me of running a bootleg ROM called Telenav. My gripe isn't that they didn't know about it but about how they handled things. You get more bees with honey but if you want flies bring out the crap bucket. I honestly think that customer service as a whole is completely in the crapper no matter if you are at McDonalds or a Sprint Store. It's one thing if someone isn't that courteous at McDonalds because it's just lunch but when it's something that you've paid $100's for up front and then pay over $100 a month for (granted I don't, my company does. I just have to be the one who deals with the crappy service) service I don't think it's too much to ask for a little bit of satisfaction with customer service and performance. Maybe my 40 something self is just asking for too much. The funniest thing about it all though was as we were walking out of the store my co worker said, "He's so not zero day!" I don't know what the store number but it is on Sawmill Rd in Columbus, Ohio. |

Alright everyone calm down... let's stop the name calling and agresiveness, we don't want the thread to go to waste.
While I agree that not all techs know everything, that does not give the tech to call the customer a liar, or accuse them of having a bootleg ROM without knowing what they are talking about. As someone posted above, if they were not sure they should have called their manager, corporate, or visit HTC's site.

And I do agree with Pibe. These reps aren't exactly the most knowledgeable on all the devices (there are always exceptions) He should not have accused you without checking first.

Courtesy credits are used as a sales tool, not because a customer is an ***. If you want to beg for credits on your accounts call up customer care and get a person reading a script in broken english to give you compensation for phone features or plans not offered in the stores. If you're not happy with sprint you could always go to t-mobile and get yourself a side kick. |

It's alright. There's a little bit of raging idiot in all of us. You have just learned your lesson to not expect a sprint store monkey to know anything other than how to sling poo.
I'm sure there is 1 or 2 decent ones out there...just don't intend on evaluating them via getting phone serviced. I keep my request as simple as possible now, and I damn sure would have had the new rom download link handy...or googled it real fast. Also, I've went through 10 ppc's in 3 years (super over active lifestyle) but never had any problems getting them replaced. Only had to pay 50 bucks one time (because I had lost phone) and they sent me two... one of which I eventually sold. Funny how I hear people talking about software voiding the waranty yet my cracked up screens never caused a problem..hmm It's good to have the insurance. And the morale of the story, don't argue with a raging idiot because he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

Three of us went in to have phones on our corporate account checked out and got crappy treatment. We went in with a professional attitude and was met with bush league customer support. Nothing more to the story than that. Have we asked for anything free? For something we don't deserve? If wanting decent service and customer support isn't a reasonable expectation then I guess I'm very guilty. |
