BIG wm wifi question...
okay peoples... i have succesfully installed my wmwifi router, and it works like a charm... i wish i had it during basketball season where we were on long road trips, but now i can be prepared for next year...
i'm in college, and as alot of you know, college internet blocks alot content... so i dont hesitate to crank up my wifi router... but i also like to play Madden O8 online whenver i go home. i cant get play it online at school because all of the internet is wireless and even if i did find a way around it, i'm sure there would be a firewall... so the question that i propose to all of you is... is there some way that i can send my internet connection from my computer to my Playstation... i've seen this somewhere, but i searched for it, and i think it got erased wit alot of other content that got erased. can someone let me know what i can do so that my internet of my phone can get to my playstation 2, using my laptop as a middle man? if its possible, let me know, and i will try as soon as you chunk me advice, and help ya reputation out.... |
Re: BIG wm wifi question...
i do the same thing with a satellite receiver. All you need is a crossover cable. And then just use internet connection sharing.

Re: BIG wm wifi question...
hmm... that sounds like it will work... i will try that in a few minutes, and let you know how it turns up...
thanx a million, bruh... |
Re: BIG wm wifi question...
Yeah you can use a PC as a gateway and share out your internet via crossover. As lame as it sounds I used to do that before the broadband days when my roommate and I wanted to share our dialup connection so he could play MUDs while I browsed the web. It was slow but it worked. I would imagine this would be better but latency might be a *****.

Re: BIG wm wifi question...
Your connection to which? If I'm not mistaken (it's been years since I did this) you have to set up your networking so that your PC acts as a gateway for other devices. Then of course you need a crossover cable which isn't the same as a regular ethernet cable (different pins).
Sorry if you already knew all that. I just haven't done it in a while but it was easy to share a dialup connection that way despite being slow. It's probably a matter of finding the right settings and possibly not depending on wizards to do it. |
Re: BIG wm wifi question...
hold up... a crossover cable is different that an ethernet cable?... what the hell, man....
so i have to put a crossover cable into my playstation 2? |
Re: BIG wm wifi question...
If you want to connect NIC to NIC, you need a crossover cable, The order of the little wires in the CAT5 cable is different on a crossover.
For ethernet it is, green/white green orange/white blue blue/white orange brown/white brown and it is the same at both ends. For crossover it is that order at one end and orange/white orange green/white blue blue/white green brown/white brown Make enough of these stupid things and it will stick in your head too ;) |
