Sprint Mogul on CW's Smallville
I'm watching Smallville's episode from 2/7 on my DVR (the one with the Black Canary, episode: Siren) and she just pulled out a Mogul from a drawer.
It, obviously, seems to be running completely stock with the yellow Sprint theme and all the plugins on the Today screen as if it were brand new. The dialer is stock too. Funny thing is the roaming triangle was on all the time... also, when she opened the dialer to check the last call, it said International just above of where it said Last Call. I figured it'd be fun to share this... |

My wife and I watched that episode about 2 weeks ago. She recorded it with the DVR and called me into the room and said, hey they used your phone on my show! Was gonna post it but figured someone already had, nice job...

I also saw it for a split second in the Theatrical Trailer for the movie "UNTRACEABLE". Some kid was using it.

Yeah, I saw that on Smallville, too. My girlfriend did the same (called me into the room). Now she wants one. Looks like I'll be working overtime next week. lol

Re: Sprint Mogul on CW's Smallville
This is nothing new. Sprint has been heavily into what is known as "product placement advertising" for a long time now. Basically, the vendor of a product pays the producers so that that the product appears in a scene in a TV show, movie, music video.... even video games now. Whenever you see folks standing in a kitchen and there happens to be a can of Coke or Pepsi, it's not just a random choice of whatever they had around for a prop.
If you want to see really outrageous uses of product placement, watch previous seasons of "24".... where Jack is talking on a Sprint phone to Chloe at the same time she's downloading schematics to him... can you say "Rev A and VoIP"? :D |
