Best Case For Mogul?
 

Ok, I have had this POS case that came with my mogul looooooonnngg enough. What do you recommend for mogul protection?

(i dropped my phone for the second time last night damnit!!@!!)

I agree thats all I use on my phones.I use this one HERE. Their screen protectors are great also just they are $11 but well worth it.

I use the one that came with the phone and amazingly even with the super extended battery installed on the phone and Seidio NOT making a hard rubberized case for it, the original HTC case lets me put my phone in that case and it works amazingly well.

I bought the crystal case from seidio, but so much dust would accumulate that I would end up taking it apart to dust it at least once a week if not more. I ended up finding other Mogul cases here, and they were cheaper that the Crystal case and more options to choose from. I bought the carbon fiber one at the bottom of the screen of the link below. They have all kinds of things for this phone.

I would prefer a case that just shelled the outside of the mogul, in case i dropped it. I dont want to have to take it out of the case just to type ya know? I kinda liked that metal case, but the flip open just doesnt work for me.

They say in the description for this one that slide out is not affected. I am thinking they have 2 separate pieces that are flushed together that 'snap on' to the phone itself. Ill order one and let you know ;-)

I bought the black rubberized one from seidio and I couldn't stand it. it makes the phone much bulkier and doesn't go into pockets easily. I imagine the crystal one would do this better, but like someone already said, these things collect a lot of dirt/dust. mine also hindered the sliding quite a bit, enough that I returned it for a battery. I figure that I bought insurance for a reason, and anything that I cqrry around 24/7 is bound to get messed up.

My problem here though, is that when sprint sends you a "new" phone, its a refurbished piece of shit. I went through 5 treos, thats right.....5 in only 2 months. Each one had a different problem...but 3/5 were screen issues. Finally i just said f this, i am getting a mogul! Lol. $600 later....ouch!

i have stayed away from rubber cases, I learned that with my treo. I had a rubber 'skin' for it, but it was impossible to stick in my pocket, much less retrieve. The rubber is great, unless you want to stick it in your pocket. Becomes a total mess, especially if the pants your wearing that day just happen to be remotely snug fitting. The rubber is just too....sticky.

How did it hinder the sliding ability? That is my main concern...I have screen protectors and what not, all I want is a case that wont hinder the sliding function.

Crystal front with the rubber back is a good compromise. It doesn't get that dust and you get the good grip from the rubber back.

It does bulk the phone up a bit though.

Don't get me started on those POS treos, i had about 7 or 8 in about a year, and each one was refurbished, I kept asking why not a new one and Verizon's answer was, "We can send you as many refurbished as we want."

What a piece of crap.

First post, long time lurker...

Initially, I bought the Seidio slim case (front and back)...Used it for a month or so, I just didn't like the fact that it somewhat "spreads" out both sides of the Mogul, and I was afraid that over time it would wear out the slide out keyboard. Looked online, and bought the standard aluminum case. I agree that it can be a bit cumbersome to open and close, but it's all about the protection of the phone. For basic use, it's great, as you can access most of the phone's functionality without using the touchscreen. At this point, the cover is a bit scratched up, luckily, 20 bucks is not a big deal if it has to be replaced. The nice thing is that it will take a lot of abuse, and not a big deal to throw it into your pocket with your ipod or keys. Trust me, I am probably the most OCD person you could know, and I am never worried about it scratching. Until something better is made available, my vote is for the metal case.

I feel your pain man....I really really do....I think me and you went through the same shenanigans :-( But, to look at the bright side, atleast we have moguls now! Haha!

Has anyone tried the "BodyGaurdz" for the mogul? I think this would probably be what I am looking for...just need someone to say "Oh yea, I have that and it just totally rocks. Couldn't be happier"

Extended battery? Link? Does it have a longer lifespan than the original? Is it bulkier?

Oh, sorry, thought if the seidio stuff was being discussed that you knew about the extended battery, it's a 3200mAh, Mugen makes a 3600 mAh battery (google that one).

Both make the device much more bulky, but the stock case suits very well and actually expands to fit. Seidio does not make a rubberized case for the extended battery but they do provide a replacement back.

second reply, bodyguardz are good, pain to install and they get this "greasy" feel under the screen protector, but otherwise pretty good.

A little ot, but I was under the impression that if you do any insurance clains in-store, they often replace with new units? This has at least been my friends' experience.

and I love it. For me, while the rubber keeps it from sliding around, I don't have any problems at all with it fitting 'properly' into a pair of pants. And it's nice and thin, too. It's also easy enough to get off if you want to clean it (which I never have had to do yet), and it allows you to use the keyboard without having to do anything additional to it.

They are form fitting and mold even better to the phone after a few weeks.
Plus, the leather gets shiney if you keep it in your pocket.

It's like putting a screen protector on every section of your phone. It comes in about 8 sections and you stick it on. It seems to stop scuffs and things, but doesn't really help if you keep dropping your phone. PITA to put on straight.

Yup. And its done its job so far, too - I dropped it onto concrete from about 2 feet a few months back and there's no sign that anything took any damage.

When it comes to cheap, I am your man. I am a slickdeals.net fanatic and I do my best to never pay retail.

I do have to say though, I bought the seidio case, and I am quite happy with it. Even though it cost me like $35 to get it to my door, I feel it was well worth it...especially after I snapped it on and it took its first fall. My only gripe with this case is that it didnt have a detachable belt clip built on....would have been nice, but I can see why they didnt add it with the way the case was built. Anyways, I would recommend this case, even if your a cheapy like me ;-)
