I must not follow what you are asking; how would the slider (as in volume?)manage memory gain?

Re: More Program memory??

the slider was on the screen. you could slide it to one side would change the proportion of alotted memory from "main memory" and "program memory" Something like this:

<------l---------->

You may be thinking of the memory slider in the 6600. It was able to allocate memory between storage and program because it was all volatile memory and required a seperate internal battery to maintain the storage memory. The newer devices have flash memory for storage and volitile memory for program, and due to the read/write speed differences between the two it's not possible to interchange it.

The 6700 Had a memory slider as well. Since the 6700 had one "chunk" of memory to do everything... you were able to allocate the memory use to your liking.

The 6800 built on the Qualcom processor has 2 "chunks" of memory. Each chunk is used for one thing only. Programs or Storage. This approach is good though, it is faster.

No WM5 or later device allows memory allocation. My 6700 didn't, nor did my Axim x51v before it. The 6600 did.
