press multiple buttons simultaneously?
is there a hack or app or anything that will allow me to press more than one keyboard button at the same time on my mogul? here's a "hypothetical" situation. lets say a guy were to d/l pocket nester and then he might google "things" for it. and when he's playing those things. the guy will on.ly jump straight up and not make it over the pit. lol veery frustrating possibly righgt. anyways just wondering. searched first didn't find.

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I'd also be interested to know if this is possible.
|
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
This is probably a hardware limitation, I doubt there'd be any hack out there that would enable this, although it would be pretty nice.

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
there is.. its called 6700kbfix

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
There was definetly a hack for this on the Apache, but I'm not totally sure it will work on the Mogul. Worth a shot.

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
Well I grabbed the CAB file, installed it onto my HTC 6800, then ran the program. It locked my device up, couldnt even power it off. So I removed then replaced the battery and powered my device back on and was able to get back into Windows so no permanent damage done. Still, if there is a way to adapt this fix to the Mogul or if someone managed to get this fix to work, let us know!!!!

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
::Bump:: Any of you tech gods out there able to get this thing working on the Mogul, or a similiar fix made available? The emulator masses want to know ;)
|
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I've been looking high and low for something like this since I got my 6800 in September, but no luck. I think it's pretty pointless to play an emulator unless you can use the slide out qwerty pad, and then you can't jump forward or play mario kart at all. blah

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
This is like, the most needed thing for the Mogul right now.
I hope it could work if it worked on the apache, I don't see why HTC would add in a hardware limitation. This would make emulating a LOT better. |
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
what does the change operator name do...or is it a cosmetic thing?
|
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
That would be great if we could get it to work.
Does the SCREEN support multiple touch? I read somewhere on this forum that it did. Or maybe its just the little people behind my eyes yelling at my brain... IDK |
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
People say it does, in the emulator forum, but I still think it can't.
Every touch screen I've used takes a midpoint between the touched places and registers that point, I never noticed this one to be any different. Even the DS one made for gaming. |
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
Even if it did support multi-touch, who wants to take up screen real estate with an on screen keypad that'd be big enough to actually hit the right buttons?
There has to be a way to make multiple button presses work! Software hack, new keyboard driver, something.... |
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
Confirmed... my phone's screen allows multiple taps IF THE SOFTWARE allows it. You can test it on an emulator.
|
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I use PocketNES and i cant do multip/same time screen taps but i can use the joystick and press other buttons so i can move forward and jump so i dont get dead by the "goombas"

No resolution to this makes me sad :(

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I found it! lol I was scouring the net today after a hard reset to find a couple things I forgot to backup oops lol and I stumbled across www.emulamer.com and saw the 6700 kb fix freeware cab. so I figured why not I already reset once if it doesn't work I can again now. but something amasing happened it works on pocket advance, pocket nester and pocket snes. those are all I have to test it on but it works. I can run with b and jump over thed pits and sqaush the goombas!!! needless to say im very excited. okay now its sounding sad lol you just install the kb fix on device (it instals into start menu programs but it doesn't do anything when you click on it) and then soft reset and run an emulator. maybe others can test it on emulators other than the ones I mentioned.

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I came from the 6700 and now have a mogul. The 6700 with emulamer's keyboard fix worked great for me with NES and SNES games. However, even though the fix let the emulators know multiple keys were pressed, you really couldn't do a diagonal consistently in every direction. So I created a d pad overlay for the keyboard that allowed me to do diagonal shooting in any direction in Contra and it made you feel like you were holding an old NES controller. This was the best way to play since it gave the tactlie response of real keys and didn't require a large bluetooth accessory.
But now I have a mogul and see that it has the old keyboard problem. Unfortunately, I can't find any fixes for the keyboard. The emulamer 6700 fix does not work with it. It freezes the mogul when you run it and reseting the mogul obviously kills the process. I was desparate so I also tried running an emulator after the reset. An easy way to check for this is to use super mario bros and try to do a running jump. This requires a direction button, the b button, and then the a button to work simultaneously. If people are getting this to work what ROM are you using? Another bad thing I've found out about gaming on the mogul is that it's not as fast as the 6700. It could be the latest stock ROM I'm using but I have to skip more frames in pocketSNES and it's still not as smooth as the 6700. Oh well, I guess I can stick with Scummvm. Quote:

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
you dont have to run the program 6700 kb fix, just have it installed, and the diagonal thing is still not working when i use the dpad, but you can hold a direction, hold b and then hit a to jump just fine. (requires some skill not to fat finger lol)

If this is working for you maybe it's something else on your Mogul? Can you try to remove the 6700 keyboard fix and try it again? For the diagonal problem, you should use the keyboard and manually press left and up at the same time. Has anyone else got this to work? |
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
i reinstalled it recently when i flashed a new rom, i can still run and jump in mario, i dont use the keyboard as a dpad, not very ergonomic for me.
|
Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
i just reinstalled it recently when i flashed a new rom, it freezes when you select it as a program, but i know it works because before i put it in i would play excite bike and you couldnt switch lanes and hold the gas button at the same time, but after just installing it, it works. have you tried running your emulator before/after install? you will notice a difference.

Re: press multiple buttons simultaneously?
I see what's going on. If you use the phone's dpad the a and b buttons work somewhat but it doesn't seem 100% reliable. Sometimes one key seems to clip the other one. Maybe the keyboard driver allows 2 buttons simultaneously? In any case a true solution like the 6700 keyboard fix is needed. If you map your dpad to the keyboard you can see that it does not allow 3 buttons+ simultaneously.
