media objects attached to SMS?

I have a friend who was trying to send me a text message with an audio file attached to it... he has LG Voyager...

I got this message sent to me instead "Preceding message was modified to comply with this handset. Media objects were removed."

Is this normal? Can't send attachments to text messages on smartphones or something?

Do you have a data plan? Do you have pix/flix messaging? It should come through as a mms message assuming you have both of the above.

Yep I have both of those.... I was thinking it would come through as MMS too but apparently it doesn't.

It's verizon to verizon so I'm wondering where it's getting stripped off? Is it at my client or the server? If so, is it possible this is a bug with WM6.1 ?

Which rom are you running? MMS is working fine on WM6.1 on my device so that does not seem to be the issue...

Has there been any updates to this issue? I am on a vz6800 running 5066. My wife has a stock verizon phone and her smilies are cut out as described above. I also can't get over the 160 character limit in or out like you can with verizon/verizon texts.

I'm not sure I haven't seen that message come again but I don't think anyone has sent me any audio files... I've p***** through MANY different roms since this posts so I'm not sure if it was fixed from that or not.

The message could have been sent to you using EMS, not SMS/MMS.

EMS has been deprecated, and the newer phones do not support it. My sister sends things to me via her older LG which supports EMS, and I get that error.
