10 Button Comm Manager Skins by XweaponX
4 Attachment(s)
I created some alternate icons for my Tao 10 button Kaiser Comm Manager. Most of the Comm Mgrs have the same layout and I wanted something different and colorful. The .cab posted below is complete with both portrait and landscape views. I have made some visual improvements and I think I have this version finalized. I may create some more comm skins with different icons but for now the background will stay the same unless I get a consensus what what others would like...
Using the same method as described in my tutorial listed in my sig, I extracted the necessary files from my \windows dir and modified them. The trickiest part was remembering that the ringer actually never disables or is off; it switches from ringer to vibrate and back again. Note: For Titan/Mogul/PPC6800/XV6800/P4000 users - If you want to turn your wi-fi on by the comm manager and not the hard switch on the side, do the following: 1. Using Total Commander, Resco Explorer, etc go to... HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\WLAN\DeviceName - change the very end of the string from whatever it may be to }\TNETW12511 2. Turn your hard switch WLAN to "on" and now you can turn your wifi on/off through the comm manager. However you will have to go through comm manager to turn your wifi back off after a soft/hard reset. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...weaponxx/1.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...weaponxx/2.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...weaponxx/3.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...weaponxx/4.jpg Enjoy! Update: Well since my first post I learned how to make a .cab... so here it (they) is/are. All have has been tested and work great. Let me know what you guys think... 1/30/08: All .cabs included. Please report any issues. |
Nice work!

I have posted a zipped file with .cab for easy install above.
In the meanwhile i will see about compiling the landscape portion... |
Do You Need To Have The 10 Button Comm Manager Already Installed For The Skin To Work And If So Where Can I Find It
|
How would I install this on my Sprint Touch?
|
You do not ned to have the 10-button installed; this will install it for you. To install onto your device (Titan, Touch, etc):
1. Download .zip to your computer 2. Rick click and "extract files here" 3. Install the extracted file onto your device 4. From your device, open the .cab file and it will install the necessary components to your device. I should have the landscape portion complete today and will post the updated .cab when it is complete... |
if i dont have the 10 button installed will this also give me the other buttons or would it just install and skin the buttons i already have?

I have created another 10-Button called the 10-Comm 3D. I added some depth to the images and enhanced them with some deminsions. Landscape didnt leave me much to work with but I managed to get them squeezed on there.
Anyhow the .zip file is on the first page of the thread. I have included some screen shots to give you an idea... there is a hand that "pushes" against the mail image when Push Mail is active. But I think you can get the idea about the rest... Portrait and landscape have been tested and work great. Let me know what you guys think... http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponxx/3d1.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponxx/3d2.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponxx/3d3.jpghttp://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...aponxx/3d4.jpg Note: I changed the Landscape Vibrate status icon to show "Active" and not "Off" since this button cycles between vibrate and ringer and is never technically off. The .cab has been updated. Enjoy. |
The new zip file doesnt download, ann error page (ppcgeeks) comes up, it says invalid link
