So in theory it could do Voice and Data, but I don't think Sprint has it setup that way. EV-DV was scrapped a while ago in favor of further evdo revisions.

This is correct. EVDO Rev A provides the platform to do simultaneous voice and data since the upload and download speeds are near symmetrical and QoS (quality of service) is supported.
But you don't automatically get simultaneous v&d all because you have Rev A... the carrier still has to convert to handset applications that treat voice like data (IP telephony).
Know what's really funny? Whenever you watch the show "24", Jack Bauer is always doing simultaneous v&d ("Chloe... send me the schematics now! Ok, I got them.") and it's a Sprint branded phone he's using (can you say "in show advertising"? lol). |
