How to Unlock/Edit Titan Ext. ROM?

Does anyone know how to unlock/edit the extended rom on the XV6800? I want to add/remove apps but do not know what utility to use on this device. I've tried some tools I found to work on the 6700 but do not work on the 6800.

Try this: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...t=extended+rom

**Edit** This works for the 6700 but not the 6800. I have found out that there is no current way to unlock/modify the extended rom for the 6800...

Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool 1.1 has check boxes to both show/hide and lock/unlock extended ROM. My PPC-6800's is visible and unlocked. :)

I haven't missed a single call with 1.1. :)

Schaps V1.1 & 1.0 will unhide but will not unlock my extended rom.

But I saw a post where someone else recommended creating a flash "rom" in \windows with you .cab selections along with the config.txt and then redirecting autorun.exe to it...

Think I might try it

michaelk 01-09-2008 10:40 PM

if you cant save stuff to the entended rom then how can you write a new autorun file?

(sorry if thats a stupid newbie question.)

Wierd if he unhide his extrom and can write to it but others cant.

I just used the advanced config 1.1 program on a vz 6800.

did show extended rom and unlock extended rom

soft reboot.

and it does show the extended rom - shows up as aother sd card type directory.

(thankfully there's not much in it- the only thing that looks like crapware is intellisync which is probably verizon's wireless sync?). Anywho all th efiles are marked as read only and I can't remove anything. I use resco explorer and try to un-read only them and it doesn't work. I tried to create a little text file and then copy it to the extended room and I get access denied. so seems clear to me we can't mess with it.

One weird thing- and what I think Jim Smith means (feel free to correct)- is since it shows up as another SD card directroy- when I go to install now i get an extra choice- instead of install to device or sd card, it now asks install to device, sd card, or ext rom.

I'm guessin he 'installed' some things to the extended rom- but who knows where they really went. I'm too chicken to try myself. (windows newbie- longtime palm user so not so comfortable just yet...)

Michael, you're exactly right. I selected extended ROM to install some programs in, the installs were successful, and the programs run. I just looked and all that is there are the extra Sprint CABs. On closer examination, the programs I installed to extended ROM seem to have installed to my storage card. Sorry to have misled anyone.

damn, effin' teasin' us eh?

anyone got a clue what the htc cm guardian program is doing? its in the extended om and seems to be running as a process pretty much all the time.

also whats the deal with the refurish program?

xweaponx 01-10-2008 10:55 PM

I dont know what refurish is but I removed Guardian.ink file from startup so it doesnt do anything now. The .exe is in \windoes and wont allow you to remove it.

michaelk 01-10-2008 11:07 PM

sorry typo
refurbish

why is there a refurbish program on brand new phones (when you poke around the phone firmwareinfo it confirms it's not a refurb)

Just did it today easy as cake works great use OEMizer to add the cabs and the autorun files.

Can someone post the link to Schaps V1.1 & 1.0 or cab. I tried a search and had no luck.

HTC CM Guardian is a startup item that prevents you from making changes to the connection settings. CM stands for connection manager. It is safe to delete if you change the DNS servers and whatnot for your Sprint connection, but if you don't know what you're doing, DO NOT MESS WITH IT!
Plus, it only executes itself at boot up. It isn't running in the background. Therefore, all changes will work until a soft-reset.

Search and you will find...

(thought after i posted a seach would probably find- sorry)

FYI- on the verizon phones it runs somewhat regularly (if not always). At least i see it all the time if I use memmaid and check the "running processes"

That's interesting.

I googled "Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool " and got several good links at the top of the first page.
