Pocket PC Web browser declaration

About two days ago. My Mogul stopped allowing me to access www.yahoo.com and www.google.com in their entirety, I have had the mogul for several months and never had this problem. I can now only access these web sites via a generic mobile web page . How did this happen and how do I change this back to see these websites in their entirety. I mean I purchased this phone so I could look at these websites in their entirety via a pocket pc.

I even called Customer Service and their reply was, that after the rep went to get a phone from a friend in the call center. He said that he was getting the same site... He said that yahoo might have made some upgrades...

What web browser are you running?
I've been running opera mobile 8.65 beta 2 with no problems.

How do I check my browser settings...or better yet. How do I upgrade to your browser?

Your browser is being identified as a mobile version

On the Goole Mobile Webpage portal there is an option at the bottom to view as "classic". select that and see if it works. Cookies must be enabled in the browser to make this happen. As for Yahoo, check to see if a non-mobile link is on the bottom of that page. There are registry settings to make Pocket IE appear to be IE6 or another desktop broswer. Those changes could also help fix the problem. Or use a program like Tweaks2k2 to make the changes more easily.

Here are the reg settings...

Change Internet Explorer to Appear as a Different Version (Pocket PC)

These settings allows you to change the way Pocket Internet Explorer appears to remote web sites. As some web site base the availability of SSL and other display parameters on this version information.

Open your registry and find the key below.

To make your browser appear to be Internet Explorer 6.0, running on Windows 2000 change the following values.

Change the value of (Default) to equal "Mozilla/4.0", change the value of Version to equal "MSIE 6.0" and the value of Platform to equal "Windows NT 5.0".

Registry Settings
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\
Internet Settings\User Agent]
Value Name: (Default), Version, Platform
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)

No1ustad 01-09-2008 01:08 AM

bhopki001 01-09-2008 11:57 PM
