It's defaulted to 1 for the Sprint mogul in the 2.17 rom
Joint Stereo uses a lot less bandwidth, and for a lot of folks is close enough to "real stereo" - it blends the center channel a bit, so it sends less data overall.

Interesting post over on the htcwiki http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Tweaks+and+Hacks?t=anon

mprove BT A2DP sound quality

[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Add new dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

For BitPool:
Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality
Chose one you like. I think 48 is good enough.

For UseJointStereo: use 0 instead of 1, then you got the real stereo.

While this depends greatly on the device, the best setup is to not use joint stereo (that disables true stereo, while it was needed on wm5 old rom devices, it's not needed for newer roms on wm6 and hurts the overall quality), and bitpool set to none (delete the keys). With bitpool to none, the device will automatically determine the best settings to use.

Regardless, the 6800's bluetooth is a little flakey but I get great results on my S9's as well.

Help

If I may interject with my own problem,

I've been having audio quality issues with BT headsets using WM6. I flashed using the latest kitchen and the audio over my various handsfree and headset devices is full of static/crackle. I've tried three diff radio versions (1.12, 1.40, 1.41) and each had no affect on correcting this problem. If I flash back to the original WM5 load, well - everything is fine - but that defeats the whole purpose of upgrading the Apache, doesn't it :)

Any advice/insight into this problem is greatly appreciated.
