HTC PPC 6800 Help

Hello everyone. I am new to the whole smartphone era and I am looking for any and all tips to get this baby operating at its full potential. I have the HTC PPC 6800 from Alltel. What applications do you recommend and how do I unlock the goodies?

Also, I am trying to sync my phone up with my outlook account where I have my hotmail, yahoo, and gmail being routed. However, after it is finished syncing, there are no emails in my outlook tab on the phone. Why? Someone please help!!! Thanks

As for the Synching issue....

What PC OS are you running?

You need to check a couple of things. in both WMDC and ActiveSync you are given the option to choose which outlook files you sync as in, which inbox folders, how big attachments should be etc.

On the phone you will also have these options within activesync. On the phone open Activesync then "menu" then "options" and you will see the devices it knows to sync with and which folders.

Make sure both PC and PPC are checked to sync.

Most of the basic are covered in the tread

As far as must have downloads check this thread, New Mogul Owner...first downloads? and This one.

As far as the email thing, its defaulted to only download the last three days, you may check your setting, but I never had this problem, I only use Gmail though

I have WM 6 on this device. I checked the box to have email sync'd, but when it goes to sync, even though it says the email sync was successful, no mesages are there. I don't know the problem is. It might a hotmail issue, b/c I don't think they allow their messages to be send via another provider.

Hotmail. I do not believe you will be able to sync Hotmail via Outlook, even though you access Hotmail through Outlook.

You would want to setup the device to directly access email via your data connection as oppose to sync with a desktop. Gmail and others are supported. Windows Live application supports Hotmail for sure(also IM).

If you are trying to do this solely via sync without using your data connection i am unsure.

so what is the purpose of Outlook express on this phone if it will not show the emails that are routed through it? Is it just for appointments, tasks, and contacts?

Oh let me clear it up. Hotmail is an HTTP based mail which is why you cannot sync it via Outlook to the PPC. Any POP3 or IMAP email would sync between the devices. Keep in mind anything you send from your outlook account will not go out until you sync your device with your PC.
