clear up some confusion - please
Its my understanding while tethering, an unmodified Sprint 6800 logs into the net via device ID. Is this right?
To surf with Internet sharing on a laptop, a reg edit will "hide" your device and you will log in using user name. Is this right? I have another question. But I want to make sure I understand this first. Thanks -Nick |
I am sorry, I do not know the answer to your question. What I do know is this, I use PDAnet to connect to the internet on my laptop (via my 6800). It works flawlessly.
BTW...on my unmodified 6800 (mostly unmodified) if I open the sprint internet sharing utility, it asks for a username and password (provided by sprint when you sign up for a "Phone as Modem" plan for $50/month. Steve |
What I plan on trying is to swap my home cell and work cell. Work doesn't pay for internet. So I plan on logging on with my home cell user name and password. After I change the reg entry.

OK Ive swapped my home and work phones. My 6800 is now on my work account. Work doesnt pay for data usage, so this is my work around. I Have made the following reg changes. I also changed my sprint connection setting to use my sprint issued user name and password, for the account I HAD my 6800 on. So far I have made a good connection through sprint using my home user name and password and downloaded my pop3 email with no problems.
These changes are normally used to hide teathering usage from (in my cases) Sprint. Quote:
