Will Sprint Mogul run Alltel Rom?
 

I'm thinking of sending my Alltel 6800 back after 4 months of non-working MMS, and getting a Mogul off ebay to flash for alltel use and just go back to my All Axcess that DID work. Are there any issues?

I talked to Alltel about buying my phone out to get off contract, but when I got the phone the retail was $499, now it's $579 and they tell me I'll have to pay the current retail to do that. So I'm thinking they can stick that deal in the brown hole.

I don't know what All Axcess is, but aren't most Sprint Mogul owners using the Alltel MMS software, since Sprint has decided that PDA users don't need MMS? Are you saying that All Axcess gave you working MMS on a PPC6800?

Yes, I can confirm that it does work. I've flashed my Sprint Mogul with Alltel ROMs (WM5 and WM6) many times before, almost everything works (MMS doesn't work right out of the box, but can be tweaked). The only real difference is the branding.

and also, do i have to unlock my mogul to flash the alltel ROM?

Yes, you do.

I'm not sure, but you should unlock it anyway just to be safe.

I knew alot of guys were running alltel roms and using sprint.. I'm looking to do the opposite, and get some MMS working hopefully. My alltel 6800 won't mms, so I was exploring options.

I have the Alltel 6800 originally with WM5 and then I went to WM6 and the MMS (picture) worked on both MMS version 3.0.26.11C. The only part of MMS that did not work is recieving (video), you can still send them. If someone sends you a (video) from a phone other than another 6800 it will go to the web www.axcessmypics.com. Is that what you are talking about? I have talked to Alltel and they say they are working with this issue. I have not heard anything new though. I am not sure if tech support is just saying this or if something is actually getting done. Usually if I really want someone to send me a (video) I tell them to send it to my email. It is a lot easier than going to the website.

What part of mms is not working on your alltel 6800?

thanks. i always thought that the SPL had to be unlocked in order before it had to be done.
