REQ: Looking for remote media control

Hello, I am looking for software for my ppc to remotely control my media on my desktop computer. So I can be anywhere and perhaps over the wifi connection select songs or playlist to play on my computer. I have googled for an hour and came up with nothing that seems to be what I am looking for. Thanks

Irb works over the web. I havent used It for a while so not sure if you can set up a play list.

I think you meant orb. Thats kind of the opposite of what I want. I basically want a program like remote desktop, but something that allows for easy zooming in and out, and also good media controls.

Winamp Remote?

You could also set up a small webserver running PHP or Perl and use that to trigger the music on the home system

Yeah.... long day at work I did mean Orb.
Are you trying to change songs while in your house in another room?.....

I think I tried something like you are looking for on my 700p and I got a full desktop view and I could zoom.. and start any application on my computer remotely. When i did this it worked on my pc but the lag between screen refresh and music timing sucked royally I scratched it.

I poked around for a few and found this http://www.soft32.com/download_163543.html
Looks like it may work

Not sure what you ended up doing for this buuttt:

There are a few web interface plugins for winamp that control Winamp...

WAWI is the most basic one that works well but I haven't tried it too much on PPC Browser... can't seem to get it to come up right but it's open source I believe so can be tweaked...
http://www.flippet.org/wawi/

Another web interface I just ran into is ajax which appears to work well with Opera but I haven't seen the functionality that WAWI has as far as browsing the file system and queueing songs up...
http://www.ajaxamp.com/

What would be really cool is if someone were able to develop an app that integrated with WAWI for the PPC... something that would communicate with the web interface through a tidey application instead of having to go through the web browser. That's ideally what I'm looking for.. an app that will allow me to control winamp.

I use www.logmein.com. It's free and gives you complete remote control over any PC you register to the account. I can control my home PC's from my PDA or any other computer that has internet access. I also use it a lot to help my Mom out when she is having computer problems (so much better than trying to fix things over the phone!). When you first sign up they let you try out all the cool features, but after a month if you continue using the free service all you get is remote control (which is all I needed anyway). Good luck!
