As of now, VZW will only let you use VZW phones on their network. If your ESN isn't in their database, they won't activate it.

verizon announced this months ago? that they would begin to allow non vzw cdma devices on their network..

its a good idea as it will stir up business from people who are on another carrier, want to switch and dont want to buy a new phone but i still dont know how they will do it, because unless they have access to sprint/alltel/etcs databases they would be able to cross reference phones to those in bad standing.. thus opening themselves up to waves of deadbeat customers and/or stolen phones.

Unless you get someone at the help desk to add the ESN i've gotten that twice in 6 years.

Didn't Verizon just make a big fuss about opening their network up to other phones? Why is everyone so negative about this? I'm pretty sure this is something they're doing now.

Haha OP no offense but you're an idiot, not to mention wasting your time. Go back a reread those threads you're referencing, and tell me that they activated their SPRINT MOGULS on the VZW network, specifically, without and ESN clone. VZW WILL NOT activate your ESN, no matter what kind of SPL or MSID or PRL or insert your acronym here programming. First of all, when you call VZW and ask them to activate your phone, it's not like they ask you if you've done all that programming, or even care. If your ESN is not in their database, which it isn't, because it isn't a VZW phone, you're S.O.L. The customer service monkeys don't even have the administrative authority to override the system and enter your ESN from another carrier, believe me.

The only way to do this via any conventional over the phone or internet activation is with an ESN clone. I know this is possible on the 6700 because as far as VZW knows, my 6700 is a Razr :] but I remember someone saying that ESN.SYS is unavailable via QPST on the Mogul/6800. My ## codes don't work, so I can't USBDIAG to find out.

What someone said in the thread, about walking in to a store and getting it activated, is your best hope, though I'm not sure even the in store monkeys have the privelages to add ESNs to the database.

Glad you got the phone for free. Look in to SERO.

And can I have a copy of those modem drivers? :]

mastermayhm sounds like u got something going here...i too am positive that it can be done, and i think that it doesn't matter what esn number you get from what phone, so i mean you could probably get an esn from any Verison phone and put it on yours.

What all of you are saying is accurate there is nothing exact (hardware or software) as to y it wont work just a matter of the ESN being in the system to touch on what OffUrRcker said and to clear things up for the uninitiated.

Fact is simple if your ESN is not in Verizon's computer it cannot be activated plain and simple you basically have 2 options.
Option # 1 - Clone a ESN that is in there system to your device. (this is in no way legal for purposes other then testing pursue at your own risk and cost)
Option # 2 - Get the ESN added into there system there is 3 categories of people who can do this. Category 1 = high level field technician (if you know one willing to do this for you then you would not be on here asking.
Category 2 = a big wig in the corporate office who says I want to use this phone and sends a memo - now Category 3 intertwines with Category 2 as they are the receiver of the memo.
Category 3 = Help Desk - this is when u get customer service on the phone and they tell you they need to send off a email.

There are 2 ways to get ahold of the help desk.
1st way have a legitimate problem in which CS fails to solve and tier 3 tech support cannot handle either.
2nd way Just keep calling and calling and calling and hoping u can get a supervisor who even has access to the necesary extensions as general CS does not have direct communication with the help desk.

Now mastermayhm069 feel free to continue in your path, however I will advise you your time can be much better spent looking at your other options as the probability of you being able to get your ESN added into the system for the reasons you are stating prior then June 30th is less then 1%.
