Thanks for all of the suggestions. These options may work for one or two computers, I'm looking to be able to remote into any computer at work like I can through VNC on my laptop.

I installed the remote desktop cab found on this site and i got it working. My it guy at worked opened me up a port and did some regedit on my machine, also had to enable remote connections. I just enter my ip and port and left the domain empty. I also had to start internet explorer first before it would connect.

ok, i have the pocket pc remote desktop on my mogul. i want to connect to my pc but keep getting an error stating "cannot connect. likley reasons are:1. specified computer name or ip does not exist. 2.a network error occured while establishing the connection."

i think i have everything entered right. in the computer part i put the name of my computer as it shows in my properties which is computer2007
in the username i put my pc username, and my password. in domain i put my ip address. my question is, am i right about how i entered everything and what is the correct way to put in the ip address

Make sure its not as easy as having the wrong user name and password. I had the same problem when I set up my connection, but forgot that the text setting was set to automatically add a space at the end of every word. I didn't notice the blank space when I entered the user name or password but my work computer sure did!

This got remote desktop working for me. Make sure you have Windows XP Professional on the computer you want to connect to (host computer). Good luck!

This Remote Desktop program works great for me, but I hate how it changes all the desktop icons on the PC after I take the connecttion back on the PC end.

Is there anyway to stop that? Am I doing something wrong?

Remote Desktop usually won't work from outside if you are connecting into a domain. Usually only domained PC's have access. You guys are forgetting about port forwarding. If you are connecting over EV-DO, or at wifi that isn't your local LAN, you need to connect to the external IP, not the 192.168.1.x IP, and additionally you need to port forward the port you are using via your routers setup page.

How are they changing? Are they just being rearranged or do they actually look different?
