Also, i read that a quick way to check if "my location" will work is to look in googlemaps Menu > Help > About and scroll all the way to the bottom and look for the string "myl:N/A" if it's there then the "my location" function is not working for the device

Thank you, I don't know how I forgot about this menu, since this is where I set my roaming options... Anyway, location is "On" and Google Maps still gives the error message. No luck with this.

I also have the "myl: N/A" string in the About of Google Maps.

the aGPS in our phones is locked down.

No love here either. Tried the hack to unlock aGPS on certain phones through developer.sprint.com, but didn't help.

Yup, that one ain't gonna work. Sprint has locked this phone down tighter than a you-know-what.... :D

it won't work on the mogul. i did oodles of looking for it, so i'll just save you the time of messing with it too, lol. at least, as of this morning (nov 30), it is dead. give it some time though. i'm not sure if it's absolutely needed, but if you did the ROM update, and read the page there, they say that they're currently working on a new ROM, due out in early 2008, that will re-enable the gps in the mogul. so, it CAN be done, it's just that the cooks here haven't figured it out yet (not blaming them, i know i couldn't find it, or would want to spend my time, which isn't free, doing it). anyhoo, when that comes out, you should be able to use it. ya gottah simmah dahn nah

furthermore, sprint does not support triangulation. The e911 system that sprint and verizon uses is aGPS. Only tmobile, and some other gsm providers use triangulation to determine your e911 location.

zeurx 12-01-2007 12:47 AM

midwest triangulated too

Statikk 12-01-2007 03:52 PM

I'm confused... I thought aGPS was triangulation. What's the difference?

cykococo 12-01-2007 03:58 PM

No love on the Touch either, obviously since Sprint uses the same method across all phones...
