Is there a list of recommended CABs to install after a non-junkware install of 2.17?

Or should I just let all the extras install, hard reset, and wait for a list to remove with Pocket Commander once the brains on this forum figure things out?

Opinions?

search.cab

best thing is to search, there is sooooo many .cabs around. Make a list of what you would like to have or will use in your phone then go read the sticky!

I can never understand why there isn't a single thread controlled by a moderator where there is a Program Name, Frequently used forum abbreviations for the program, a brief description of what it does, and a link to download. Easy for me to say...quite another to put in the time to make it happen. :)

Its mainly not done cause first off alot of apps arnt free, and second off cause it would be alot of work to make sure you give proper credit, have permission and permanent links to current versions...

Plus, thats the same thing as pouring sugar on your counter and waiting for ants to come bother you, there is a forum FAQ that half the new people here dont use or dont know how to use... so i would never wanna be the one to make that list... or if i do make it, id never have my name attached to it in any way...

Check the software forum. There's not a single thread with all then in there, but there are a lot of good appls in various threads.

i think everyone missed what the OP was asking. if i get it right he's worried that he missed something he needed by not letting the customization run and was wondering if there is anything that needs to be put one.

yes?no?maybeso?

It's like ringtones and a couple of apps, right? There's hardly anything in the extended rom, couldn't be that much. If there's any memory difference between installing it and not installing it, I never noticed it. Install it and see for yourself.

the only thing i've noticed is that BT call volume is louder when you do not let them run. other than that i have not noticed anything "not working"

I agree with h11013. There is a sticky thread in the Apache forums listing what each of the extended_rom cabs are, what they do, and if they are required/optional/junkware. You can look at it here:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=3660

It would be nice if there were something similar for the Titan.

BTW: divxrippimp, is all that in the base memory or are you heavily relying on a 6GB card :)

I would also like to know what cabs need/should be installed. It seems that most are not allowing the Sprint customizations to install.

BTW- There is no way all of those apps are installed on that device.

DING...Ding Ding...Yes :)

I killed the customizations with a soft reset and this phone is working AWESOME. TCPMP with steller video playback, slingbox is also awesome, I am viewing you tube videos with perfect av sync and clarity...and I am pulling 1024 kb down with only two bars in the "boonies"

Jawbone is working great as well with MS Command 1.6 also performing great. So far, I have not found one single flaw.

I am on the lookout for an 8m micro so I can get my ripped dvds (like Wedding crashers and all the disney videos i need to occupy the kids when we are out running errands)

this 512 is nice...but I need the big boys!

All in all, Rom 2.17 seems like it is 90% in my book (Rev a and GPS will make it 99% I am sure.)

I soft reset before all the junk was added on i thought everyone did? the phone seems faster with a lil more ram on boot. However i instantly put all my apps back on that i had so i didnt even get to see if its faster without HTC home and all my other junk

The only thin missing that you really need is the voice signal control panel applet.
A .cpl file. It's on the ftp site. Look around you will find it.

Did you install the new radio as well or just the new OS?

gazgiz79 12-02-2007 09:40 PM

Here's a link to a bunch of recommended regedit's in nice cabs http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10668

TrainSafe 12-13-2007 09:00 AM

OK, Here's what I have in extended ROM {2.17 & Radio 1.47}:

AddContact
DefaultRingtone.sa.cab
GetGL.cab
GroveMobile_pulgIn.sa.cab
MoveLnk.sa.cab
MP_CVSDcpl_20070129.cab
AddContacts.exe
AutoRun.ext
Config.txt

Can anyone tell me which of these contains the volume fix?
