Halp! Aftermarket ROM won't receive texts on its own.
 

I purchased this phone off craigslist from a very nice guy who put a ROM on it. I quite like the ROM it has on it, not sure what it is though :( Anyway to find out? When I go to about it says it's windows 6.5 Pro and when I start it up it says FORCE DEVELOPMENT with a picture of yoda C2008 NoChem then Codefest 2009
But I do not get any text messages until I either make a phone call or send myself a text then they all come flooding in.
Any ideas?

Sounds like the phone's hardware radio has gone bad. I had a phone do that once and had to get a replacement. Basically the phone's radio is not announcing itself to the network so the network has no way of knowing how to find you to send you phone calls and text. Once you make a phone call then you are announcing your location and you receive your txt messages at the time. Sounds strange but that is what i was told by a tech and flashing the ROM did not fix the issue but then again that was a Motorola phone. I'd suggest to do some research and try to flash it back to the original Verizon ROM to see if that helps at all if not then I'd say its a bad phone radio.

I bet you just need to program it correctly. Radio hardware failure is rare. I have no ideas on which rom it has. And there is a good chance it is old and hard to find
