issue w/ MMS displaying in IE/threaded sms

ok, so i havent been able to properly view MMS message for quite some time and its finally bugging me. Tyring to figure out which of my programs is at fault. at first i thought my threaded SMS was because the link shown to clock looked like it left some piece of the address off, but i ran a few tests and got this.

setup 1: No2chem alpha rom, threaded SMS w/ internet explorer = no good
setup 2: OEM rom, OEM SMS, OEM IE = works
setup 3: OEM rom, threaded SMS, OEM IE = works
setup 4: No2chem alpha rom, threaded SMS, Opera Mobile = sorta works. I can view the thumbnails of the pics but cant do anything with em.

any ideas? Maybe a different version of IE?

it is not threaded sms...
the user agent string from IE is what determines how sprint shows you the page
i think no2chem's alpha is aku 0.7.0 build 18508. i am not sure the iemobile version, but for the titan (Sprint:PPC6800 is user agent string) it expects IEMobile 6.13. My aku7 had IEMobile 7.7.

My workaround was to downgrade to IEMobile 7.6 (from aku0.4.2) and use the sprint touch user agent string, as it came with IEMobile 7.6 and sprint then 'correctly' identifies it as a touch. point is the page displays correctly.

this is from memory but i think the user agent key is
[hklm\security\internet explorer\5.0\user agent]
custom="Sprint:PPC6800"

ah cool. um...so where can i find ie 7.6?

I had no issues with the Sprint ROMs and threaded SMS. The link did look cut off, however, clicking on it would succesfully open PIE with the picture sent to me.

yeah, i found that out in step 3 of my testing. So i guess it is an IE issue. But where can i get IE 7.6 to downgrade? And if my User Agent key is already PPC6800, should i change it to PPC6900 or something for the Touch?

Thanks

dcd,

I would also like to find out how to upgrade the Mogul's IEMobile. Is there a cab file somewhere that does this? I'm curious how it would change things for me (esp. the Sprint Picturemail site).

what i want to do is when i get a picmail link i want it to open in my opera browser, how could i do that?

dcd 11-14-2007 02:44 AM

you cant just upgrade it, it depends what came in your ROM
the stock sprint roms should all be configured correctly for incoming mms already.
the idea is to mock the way the stock sprint rom IE presents itself when using other roms.

Install PHMRegistry Editor

Goto HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent

Change the entry to
Custom = Sprint:MP6900SP

Save the changes. Close IE. Then try the Picturemail link again. Worked like a charm.

sprint looks for iemobile 7.6 with Sprint:MP6900SP
that will only work in a rom containing iemobile 7.6.
