Quick way to switch "Internet profiles"?
Hi there, this might be just a case of me missing the obvious but here goes.
I use two forms of data connection on my P4000... the Telus data network and my own private WiFi. I find that switching between these two settings (telling the phone where to find the internet) is a pain. Currently I have to go: Settings, Connections Tab, Connections Icon, Advanced Tab, Select Networks, then choose either "Telus" or "My ISP" from the drop down. I was wondering if there is a profile switcher available to toggle between multiple settings quickly? Something like the Comm Manager. Thanks! |
i just wrote a mortscript to disconnect and disable/enable and connect my cellular connection and bound it to a button. if i want to use wifi i hold the button to force cellular data off, and the ppc uses wifi for everything (including AS!)

Re: Quick way to switch "Internet profiles"?
Here is what I did to fix it.
Start>Settings>Connections tab... Connections. Under "My Work Network" add a new modem connection to your cell provider. I dont know what your providers settings will be but I just copied the info from the "My Isp" settings for "My Connection". Now when I am connected via wifi, the cellular data connection does not even try to connect. If I shut off the wifi, the cellular modem dials in and connects. Now I am going to go poke around and find the reg hack for auto disconnect evdo after 1 minute to save batt life. I hope this helps someone. |
Re: Quick way to switch "Internet profiles"?
i dont know much about the 4000 but...
on the titan i have an external wifi on/off switch. when i want to go from cellular data connection to wifi. all i have to do is slide on my wifi card switch. then to disable the cellular data connection i hold the red end button for 5-8 seconds. when i want to go back to cellular data from wifi. i just turn off the wifi card and run which ever program i want to use on the cellular network. it will automatically initiate the connectio, (ie "dialing #777) that will do it for ya. |
Re: Quick way to switch "Internet profiles"?
all new outbound connections should automatically go out over wifi if wifi is enabled. no need to disconnect data service....

Re: Quick way to switch "Internet profiles"?
everybody gets a big thanks. I needed all this info, (or reminded of some specifics...)=D>
I've been wanting to to add bluetooth to the top of the priority for internet (save pwr over wifi) to connect my unactivated devices, and I have it set up to do this, but now I think I can make the entire process allot more painless. and automatic as once again I'm reminded I need to take time to learn more scripts. DCD.. care to share some commands? |
