roms fried my radio. IDK something is very wrong.
 

ok, i may not have a lot of experince with these roms, but i feel i understand what i am doing pretty good. i have been tweeking these devices for a few years now.

here is my problem. it started yesterday when i couldn't get internet on the device after flashing a new rom (one of dcd's). i know that if i start with one of the sprint roms (2.09), do the data provisioning by going to the internet and letting it start automaticlly, or the IOWA in phone settings. then i flash the radio of my choice, then rom. all using the ruu from the ftp. it seems that if the radio is flashed without the data provisioning first, many will not / cant get data agian afterwards. so i started doing this in this order last week. while testing a few roms last week all was going ok.

saturday i started trouble shooting this IOWA thing by tring to use dcd's IOWA cab and see if i could get one of these bad flashed radio's that couldn't get data working agian. i couldn't. i thought that as a fail safe, i could always go back and flash the stock sprint rom (2.09) and always get back to normal agian. this would always get me out of trouble if i made some kind of mistake.

well, it didn't work. i flashed the 2.09 rom back on the phone. did another hardreset like i was told to make sure everything was good. i couldn't get the internet working agian. i tried everything. tried a RTN reset. tried the 2.16 rom. tried the 2.09 agian and nothing worked.

i had to call sprint. finally teir 2 tech support did something on there part which automaticlly started the IOWA on my phone. when it was done i had internet agian. i thought i was out of trouble and figured my playing around for the day was over. figured i would flash back to dcd's clean rom and let things be.

the next day i realize that even though my internet is working i am have problems with my radio on the phone part. i cant make calls. 4 out of 5 calls get killed with some "cannot complete call. please check your phone settings and try agian". i can recieve calls ok, i think, it just i can't make them very well. also i cannot answer my voice mails. everytime i call my voice mail from my mogul i get a busy signal.

i called sprint agian, teir 2 support didn't know what to do. thay want me to bring my phone in to service center for testing. hmmm, i really dont want one of those unbranded new moguls. i like where mine says "pocket pc". lol.

anyone got any ideas to get this back to normal agian?

oh, btw, i also noticed that when i do a ##prl# that i have no prl listed. i though that i would see the prl version here. how can this be blank? i did have them flag my account for the prl update. it did go through fine, but after it did the reset, it still had a blank next to prl version. i also had the prl file save on the sd card. i like to manually update the prl by having this file. although this didn't even work. is there a different place to confirm the prl version other than the ##prl#? i thought i remembered seeing it somewhere else. i tried ##data#, ##debug#, about, ect.

Yikes - not looking good.

If I check ##PRL# I get a blank entry - however, in Settings -> Device Info it does list the PRL as 60610. This may or may not be useful to you.

here u go man try to hard install a prl... and you can check ##778# for your info too.

by IOWA do you mean by IOTA ? did you flash a sprint stock RUU? try going into mtty after you flash a custom rom and type "BOOT". use the RUU provided by olipro, this should get you to a mogul that boots up with R NONE (as typing boot will format your flash for some reason)... then flash sprint stock again.

I recalled that fixed it once when i broke the radio.

get your internet and calls working with the sprint rom - you may have to have *2 push IOTA.
flash another rom

i threw that IOTA cab together with no word on whether it works or not

verify the MDN/MSID are correct in EPST - the busy signal when dialing vm makes me wonder

Can you tell me how to flash only the radio? I have the 1.40 radio from the ftp, and the RUU, is that all I need?

i new there was another place to find the prl. it shows i have 60608. so this is not the answer.
i forgot to try the ##pst#. that where all the good stuff is. thanks for the prl. i have 60610. like to keep the original files. no more dialing*2 for me

yes i was trying to get out of trouble by going back to the sprint rom 2.09. i will try what you suggest. thanks a lot for helping.

i did all that. even with the 1.32 radio that is in the stock sprint rom 2.09 I dont have a problem with internet anymore. it's the calling out that is the problem. i dont know if i am missing calls or not. no voicemails anyhow.

the biggie is 4 out of 5 calls are lost when i make them. thay get disconnected on the 2-3 ring. i called my wife last night. she said her caller id would show it was me but each time she answered i wasn't there. whe said she just quit answering them. siad it would only ring like twice and then stop.

plus i figured out my voice mail is busy if i dial from my mogul. from landline it works ok.

you should check ##debug# and see if oyu have good signal, it's possible that a tower went out. Also check your roaming settings perhaps it is set improperly. The 1.32 radio is fine. I generally don't do radio upgrades as flashing radios can be potentially risky and the results seem similar to that of a placebo.

ok, i found the mtty 1.42 now it wont let me choose usb. how do i run this puppy?

ok, did this last night. had a few problems with vista. use xp and it worked. been working fine so far. i think were good. thanks no@chem
