Cab - Common Tweaks All in One 10/29/07

2 Attachment(s)
I made a cab with commonly used tweaks and can be used for WM5 and WM6

The Tweaks include

Speed up reg tweaks (cache size)
The increased speed in IE tweaks (connection tweaks)
Upped the size limitation in Arcsoft MMS to 512kb
Disabled "Message Sent" Notifications

This is for keeping most people out of their registry and keeping it automated. this is esp. useful to the folks who did the update to the new windows version via sprint update.

Update - now includes battery life tweaks....

Nice work sprintdude07. But FYI, bt is definitely *not* a registry fix for the titan.

Thanks! You should include the power saving tweaks as well. codyppc already made a tweaks cab, are any of the tweaks from his repeated in this? Check it out at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10507.

sprintdude07 10-29-2007 09:22 AM

codyppc cab is designed specifically for battery and performance, mines is for commonly used items. the speed settings are included but this one is more in tune mostly with the usual stuff most people use. I will include the battery life entries later today, so you can uninstall and reinstall it. as far the BT issue concerned... i guess that's a mixed bag, i havent had any problems with my bluetooth, but at the same time i dont use it much anyway.

JackSchitt28 10-29-2007 09:49 AM

thanks for posting sprintdude. these will come in handy for some folks. i may make this a sticky.

specv 10-29-2007 09:51 AM

ppc 6800 hacks is good but i missed the command hacks cab i had with my 6700

codyppc 10-29-2007 10:03 AM

wow, and i cant belive he got a sticky.

reg edits are nice all cabed up, but no one is going to want the same edits as the next guy. nice job though. you chould give some details to what exact reg changes are done with which cab. this could get more hits. i know i would like to know what it changes. plus i think the idea of having a remover for the edits is a good idea. sometimes there are conflicts and people want to change the reg back.

i would recomend a few cabs instead of an all in one. keep things seperated so people could choose what thay wanted.

send him a PM cody and help him out. if you guys collaborated on these type of things, you guys would make peoples lives so simple and i can sticky one huge thread instead of several.

TurboFool 10-29-2007 11:19 AM

Great idea, but I'm surprised this got stickied, as well, considering how marginalized one could see some of these. The latter two, for instance, don't apply to a LOT of us, as I've never cared about the Arcsoft MMS, and I use codyppc's awesome threaded SMS app instead of the built-in one, so I never get those notifications.

Good work, and useful stuff for some, yes, but this one just doesn't make sense to me to be something "everyone" needs, especially with only a few tweaks in it.

codyppc 10-29-2007 11:19 AM

i was going to start a thread called "get your cab here" and let users request the edits they wanted. bigmatt pmed me and got his request filled... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10391

i am not in compition with anyone. if sprint dude wants to do it thats great. it's all about helping others. with that if you (sprint dude) needs help.... pm or aim me and i'll help. if he / you (sprintdude) understand making cabs, which he seems to understand, it really pretty easy.

big matt put his request in the Pocket PC Registry Tweaks section, which is where i should have put my Battery & Performance hacks cab.

anyway i can help out just let me know. with out going through the entire reg hacks thread, it's hard to know what exactlly people want. what to bundel together.

Stupid question. How to make a cab file?i really want to make some for myself, thanks.

codyppc 10-29-2007 11:37 AM

well i dont know if i should just anounce this to everyone, but the are a few programs out there that allow you to make them. there are a few things you need to know first. reading up on this may be your safest thing to do first. the thing with cabs is you dont really see what is being installed, and when you remove it it doesn't really remove everything. reg edits for example are one of the things that dont get changed back. the installer has know way of recording what the settings were before the installed reg changes.

i use a program that cost me $80. i bought it cause i was developing "treo alert" with a few other guys at treocentral. "xcsat" is another one i worked on wher ethe cab maker was a must.

sprintdude07 10-29-2007 12:39 PM

im Definitely here to help the community.... and not to compete with anyone so i dont mind working with anyone with anything... oh yeah with this cab if you choose to uninstall, the entries are changed back to original values and/or erased, I tested it to make sure before posting.

hmmm, i didn't think it worked like that. i know with treo alerts, when when made it se couldn't get the reg changes to be removed without writing a script to remove. i'm not saying your wrong. im thinking i might have been wrong. maybe the cabs with the edits i'm writing will be changed back as well. i never checked. i will be looking into this. sure would make it easier.

codyppc 10-29-2007 01:13 PM

ok, i figured it out. both of our cabs will reset the registry settings back to the defalt setting when unistalled from the "add remove program" list. what i was forgetting is that when building treo alerts, where i remembered the reg edits not changing upon uninstall, we were using the scripts to make the changes, not the cabs. this way the cab never knew there were reg changes.

anyhow to make a long story short... we don't have to woory about remover cabs. i will edit my battery and performance thread and remove the remover.

thanks sprint dude. i wasn't thinking. lol

cody

sprintdude07 10-29-2007 01:20 PM

lol its cool codyppc

JackSchitt28 10-29-2007 02:02 PM

i made this thread a sticky because i appreciate sprintdudes and cody's ideas and thoughts. i have spoken with cody and i want you guys to collaborate all of your .cabs and tweaks, compile those for me and i will make one big sticky. i know there is a registry tweak thread, but if these are specifically for the Mogul, then thats where i will post the sticky. if you guys make them for other phones and they are tested and working, then i will sticky it in its respected section. i am giving you guys the ball, so run with it and get back to me when it is ready to be stickied. thanks again for all of your hard work guys.

Hey SprintDude and Cody ... thanks very much for this thread. It's very useful for beginners and not :)

I installed the "plus battery" version of my Mogul running DCD's ROM, but I'm still having Arcsoft tell me that the size limit is 1K. I did a quick search, but there are just too many threads about arcsoft to find what I need...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Pibe38 10-29-2007 02:58 PM

I'm just going to add all these CAB threads to the FAQs sticky. Too many stickys ;)

i had the same issue. i got the problem after installing audio manager from kaiser - JUVS_HTC_Audio_Manager_KAISER_1_2_614_712.cab

after i removed this, the mms works fine.

if you are using audio manager taken from kaiser, try uninstalling it.

you can use the audio manager taken from touch without any problem.

Re: Cab - Common Tweaks All in One 10/29/07

You guys I am real computer savy but have not messed with my xv6800 yet. Two things: how in the heck do you get into the registry to make these tweaks?
Is there anything out there I can do to increase the volume for my particular phone when using my Jawbone (bluetooth)?

Hey I also downloaded "Touchcommander" (it's suppose to make my phone work like an I-phone, not to impresseded)and it makes my phone slow as hell. Any ideas?

I know this is a bunch of questions but I just found this forum and have been wanting to ask these questions for a while. Thx for your time!
